Having an old solid bath re-enamelled? Has anyone had any success with this? Would be grateful for any feedbac

As bath suites are so cheap to buy, I am interested in knowing if anyone has gone down the route of re-enamelling an old bath with success? The quotes I have had are expensive in comparison to replacing it! Any feedback would be gratefully received! Thanks

I take it's a cast iron bath?

it's probably cheaper to buy one, because they will have to remove the bath to do it anyway..cast iron baths are very expensive anyway.. but they do look fantastic re enamelled if you get it done by a professional

I lived in an apartment complex once and this company came around and repaired sinks and tubs. As I remember the job was beautiful but the longevity wasn't so great. This was a while ago and I cant speak for today's methods. For my personal preference I would pick new over repaired any time. New tubs are porcelain,enamel is softer and not as durable.

I see dozens of questions of this nature; and have seen answers by those claiming to be pros, as well as many answers suggesting a DIY approach.

Obviously removal and reinstall might also be pricey, but my first concern and questions to anyone in that line, would be, "What justifies your bid, and how long might I expect you to be in business to gaurantee your work?"

My personal opinion, with nooffense meant to you or those in that line; I wouldn't bother the reglazing. That said I might however if it was an antique claw foot tub, I just couldn't part with.

Consider perhaps that the process might work. Might it not then be reasonable to assume that at a Factory, where it's done as a usual procedure, with all the right equipment, and proper conditions, would be the better way?
