My wife and I would like to visit Dubai for 7 days. I am a British passport holder, while she has a Brazilian passport with an indefinate leave to remain visa to say in the UK. After viewing the UK UAE embassy web site I am still a little confused. All visa requirements seem to be for people who want to say in the UAE for 14 days or longer. Can someone please confirm if she needs to arrange a visa in advance if we were to go.

Yes, your brazilian wife does need a visa. Means, she needs a sponer which can be any hotel in Dubai or a friend/family member holding a valid residence visa.

A tourist visa is good for 30 days but of cause you don't have to stay that long. There is not visa for a week only.

Please be aware that the UAE Embassy will not issue visit visas.

Being a UK passport holder u will get visa on arrival. But u need to arrange visa for ur wife. If u r proceeding to ur trip to anyother country via dubai then u may get transit visa which is valid for 96 hours max. To get more info on transit visa, you may have to contact Emirates office in Brazil. Since u wanna stay here for 7 days its better to book hotel online in yahoo travel or browse for hotels in google. You can reserve hotel online and ask for visit visa from them. Few hotels block ur credit card for about AED 5,000/- ($1,360) as security for visa which they reimburse as soon as u exit from the country.

there is a 33 country list that get on arrival visa , the rest need to get a UAE visa before travel it does not matter how and where , only your passport (nationality) matters US Green card is not a recognized travel document , its more like a US residence visa , what does that have to do with UAE. The only cards UAE recognizes for entry in county are GCC national ID cards , and only for citizens of GCC.
