forgive those people who have tried to hurt the very essence of your inner person?
And when was the last time when someone made you feel that way?

Yes I would. And I have. The last time wasn't too long ago. I just don't get people sometimes. Some of them are that way because they are hurting inside. Of course that's no excuse. But I find peace in the truth about myself and in forgiveness. Holding on to the pain will hurt me, not the person who hurt me. It's just pointless.

Forgiveness comes easier than forgetfulness. The last time I let someone hurt me I was blinded by what I thought was true love. Now I know there is no such thing as true love if each partner can't sacrifice everything for each other. The loss of self goes against everything we have ever learned. Putting someone else first, completely, isn't possible for everyone.

It may take a while, but I have to forgive, knowing that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes and say things and do things that we regret. I've had someone recently hurt me pretty deep and I just refuse to hold on to the anger because it is doing me more damage.

only if i allow that person to hurt me that deep.

as far as forgiveness, it depends if i really want to hold on to that hurt.

awhile back a "friend" hurt me but when i decide to let it go, it started to hurt less to the point i forgot about the pain.

If I try to it drifts into the realm of pity for their situation/state of mind & I definitely don't want to go there - employers, & one in particular due to his home life & body image, have done their level best to belittle & demean me & my achievements (or lack thereof!) & realising that I don't have to relate to anything they do or are is incredibly liberating. Not only are you not your job, you're not anything anyone necessarily decides you are in their eyes, even if they do pay your wage!

No, not entirely. Not ever entirely. I can only forgive myself for being there, and being hurt.
