Because cricket is not at all a popular game in America and you do not have facilities to watch the cricket matches as well as reading articles and cricket news as in India.

I don't think there is enough cricket news/info in the media there to feed people's interest. Although cricket exists in America, it can never compete with the other sports that rule in that country, like baseball.

Cricket was really popular over there in the 19th Century, but I read before that the First World War killed it off. This was because soldiers needed a quick and fast game to play when they were bored, like baseball, and cricket certainly isn't one that finishes quickly and also needs more equipment.

Once killed off, it wasn't easy to bring cricket back into the scene, especially as baseball took over so well. In other coutries, it's so easy to get hold of cricket information, on TV and in newspapers. But in a country which doesn't have an international team, there isn't really going to be anything in the papers or in TV, only the net I guess. This way, it easy to start losing interest in the game.

It is the question of "Out of sight, out of mind?".

May be there are not too many American channels that relay the game, and in India as you turn every nook and corner there would be some to talk about cricket with you, but not so in America.

So the enthusiasm fades away as long as they stay in America.
