i have a 2stroke scooter, i have it since 2003. one day while i was riding it , it just stopped, i check for the cause and i found out that the sparkplug cap is broken, so i bought a new one, and make a few adjustment in the mixture and idle screws. it runs a lot smoother when i first start taking off down the road. The only problem is that now i've noticed that when i get to about 24 throttle or so, the scooter begins to lag and when i open the throttle widely, it dies. but when i start the engine again it will run. but when i open the throttle again it dies. can anyone help me? please..

sounds like its not getting fuel when you wind it out.it may need a new carby kit.the float may be sticking.the carby may need service.check to see if spark is intermitent,it may need replacment.make sure you got correct fuel ratio.

You should have mentioned the mileage.
It may need a top end rebuild if the mileage is over 5,000
Check the compression.
Couldn't hurt to check the air cleaner - clean or replace if necessary.

No not all 2 cycle have valves, some just have ports in the cylinder walls. I don't know what you got but often they won't fire if its old and compression is to low.

Did you change the plug, and if so, did you gap it correctly.

Definately check the fuel line, oil levels, air filter etc.

You could have a clogged jet. Get some Seafoam at your local auto supply store and see if that resolves the problem.
