Imagine if you will that you are aducted by an advanced race of aliens. They take you back to their planet, as representative of the human species and place you on trial for the crimes of humanity, Namely the emotion known as hate or hatred.

In this trial they demand that you answer four questions,
1. Define hate/hatred as the emotion.
2. What purpose does hate/hatred serve to the individual and the group.
3. What are the good (if any) aspects of hate/hatred.
4. Why should the human race be permitted to continue to exist if they have hate/hatred.

So in this situation how would you define hatred, of people; ideas and things?

Please Note:
An alien species would not understand normal human emotional communication. All answers must be based on logic and fact.

Serious answers only please.

Thanks.

Tough question..... hatred is as difficult to define as it is to douse once arisen.

The word hatred is so loosely used in different contexts that it has ended up in multiple meanings..... what I would try to do is to explain it as I understand.

Hatred can be best understood as a feeling just opposite of love. In love we get attracted, in hatred we get dispelled.

Hatred is somewhere between dislike and anger... not as mild as dislike that prompts merely to avoid... and not as animated as anger that wishes to inflict pain or destruction. In hatred we enjoy the adversity of the object but do not go all the way to actually cause it to happen.

Hatred does have a psychological purpose to serve, as every emotion does have. When we dislike something or someone too much, it creates an imbalance in our mind which can be internally and psychologically harmful for us... hatred gives release to that unpalatable tension inside us to reduce the impact of the imbalance. However, it is given that where there is hatred, there would be a bit of the harmful imbalance remaining.

Hatred is indeed a weakness and human beings have always suffered on this account. However, it is on the rise due to our moral depreciation causing self-centered and short term approach to life..... the aliens would not bother to do anything knowing that this trend would either have to be reversed by us or it would itself make sure of an end to humanity in any case.

Hope you find this answer useful and enjoyable, even though I have avoided any binding definition of hatred.

1. Define hate/ hatred as the emotion.
Hate is a word i don't really use in life, I would use the word I really dislike that person. The emotion comes from being hurt, if it be in a social setting, physical pain, mental abuse.
The expression to use for the person harming you in any way would be to hate that person ,, as they seem to be attacking you.

2. What purpose does hate/hatred serve to the individual and the group.
Hate expresses the pain you have felt or anger that has built up from the person attacking you, it categories your feelings in an understandable way.

3.What are the good (if any) aspects of hate/hatred.
Being able to categories your feelings and emotions into a communication by using the word (hate). Once it is recognized as hate, it will need to be released.
In order to stop it building up and making the person ill.
Or worse attacking back.

4. Why should the human race be permitted to continue to exist if they have hate/hatred.
Everything has balance, good and the bad.. love and hate.
without balance there is no center.

1.Hate is pure despise. It is ugly and inhuman and contains no trace of any other emotions besides anger, madness, and hurt.

2. I truly do not know the purpose of hatred, I don't think there is one. But if I had to guess, I would say to protect people from future pain, emotional or physical, like if a father abuses his daughter or a mother drinks her life away in front of her children.

3. And that kind of hate holds only the good aspect, protection.

4.The reasons humans are permitted to exist is because we can also love and true hate is rare. Most people say they hate someone, when it is really only dislike. Love balances out the dislike and hate of the world, even if we can't always see it.

Hate? the total conscious of wanting the person the idea or thing to be non existent because of preexisting moral values in the individual.

Hatred is simply the mirror image of the truth that one cannot face about one's self.
