I was wondering who you thought were the worst historians? To me Anne Coulter's attempt at disproving the cold war is funny. I was wondering if anyone else thought there was a historian that was full of it out there

Top of the list has to be the grail, conspiracy, and ancient times authors like Graham Hancock; Erich von Daniken; Henry Lincoln; Robert Bauvall.

These guys all operate in the same way - possibilities become concrete links, conclusions are jumped to, and "evidence" is used selectively and crow-barred to fit the theory.

Of the "serious" historians, I guess the most obvious is David Irving.

Agree about David irving.
But if cultural historians count, EDWARD SAID is your man. Not a crackpot alas, but a thoroughly dishonest historian whose book Orientalism is a string of inaccuracies and non-sequiturs which caused untold harm to many very decent people and cultural studies in general, and is still taken seriously in university departments.
If you want a real crackpot, Immanuel Velikovsky is your man.

Guido Knopp. Germany most famous TV-historian. He allways takes a "German" perspective. His attitude is much to kind with the Nazis.

david irving - guy is a complete idiot but unfortunatly is treated too seriously by the media and austrian courts - he has a thirst for publicity which is given because of the mad theories he has (all without basis in reality)

Howard Zinns "A People's History of America"....... absolutely breathtaking in its arrogance in presenting a discredited agenda as "facts"
