do we need exactly same type of memory modules, as in speed frequency, size!!!

yes thats right unlike the regular SD typr of memory modukes Dual channel memory works faster as it porcesses the infomation on a dual channel concept...For example if you hav 2 512 MB memory sticks on the board the information of one process would be processed i one part of memory stick A and the rest of it would be processed in another part of memory B so thus enhancing the processors speed and that the same reason they shuld be exactly of the same configuration.

There is NO dual channel ddr but they can be made to work in dual channel mode in motherboards with dual channel memory capability. Dual channel mode doubles memory bandwidth, thus improving overall PC performance. A matched pair of memory sticks is required. More here:
