I just wanna ask some of you if think this is insane:
our electricity rate has gone up two cents last week.. now we're looking at 23.9 cents per KWH. on top of that, they've imposed a $100 dollar increment. meaning to say, if you're average bill has been $140.00... next month it'll be $240.00. gas is at $3.59 per gallon. price of commodities are up often marked up by 35-40%..
however, our minimum wage here is at $3.05 per hour. you're lucky if you find a job at $5.00 per hour. people with private jobs are losing their places because businesses are closing. and we have what they call "austerity measure" in governemnt
work places -- nobody is to exceed more than 36 hours a week.
really now, does it take a genius to figure out that our leaders are killing us??! and know what? these are just a few of the crap thats been happening here, there are even crazier things. INSANE!

The problem is the minimum wage law and the labor laws, plus the lack of an underground community that ignore those laws.
It's quite well known that minimum wage law and labor laws are capable of messing up prices in a community.
As for your leaders killing you.
Your leaders probably prefered you to be alive and well.
Really, they wanting you to be alive and well is really more about self preservation interest than in your best interest, since they can exploit you more if you are alive and well.
If they are killing you, then it's probably because they were influenced and probably even forced by an outside force. Meaning that 'your leaders' aren't your leaders.

your minimum wage is not $3.05 because there is a national minimum wage above $5 (I think 5.50). Plus only 1% of people above the age of 25 actually make minimum wage, so a change in that would barely be significant to the majority of Americans, rich and poor alike.

Just curious, where do you live? I am in Ohio, and while I agree that cost of living, etc is going up while wages are going up much slower, it is still possible to make a living. Not too comfortable, things do need to change, but it is livable.

What country are you in?
In the US, federal minimum wage is $5.15 -- so if you are in the US, you can't legally be paid less than that unless you're primarily income is based on sales commissions (or tips).
