I am what most of the right would call a left liberal, I consider myself a moderate, I vote for whom I think will do the best job. I plan on voting for a republican for governor of my state. I am working hard to save a nest egg so that my wife and I maybe able to retire semi-comfortably and I do not want my nest egg eaten up by taxes, however the 2 or 3 brain cells I have managed to keep healthy tells me we have to finance this God forsaken war somehow. Our educational system is in the tank and sinking, social security is disappearing. Where will I country find the funds? Please help this liberal understand where we will get the trillion dollars we will have spent in Iraq? The latest figures are we have spent 700 Billion, 135 billion this year alone with out the surge. General Mixon says if we tried to pull the troops out tomorrow it would take a minimum 18 months, it took a year to pull out of Kuait under the best of circumstances, so 2 or 3 years minimum to pull out.

A Trillion dollars! Where will it come from?

Sociald, homework my foot, you cannot justify a Trillion dollars in the desert by pointing out other waste. We are wasting money and more importantly lives over there i don't need any more homework than that.We are spending a quarter of a million dollars a minute over there.I don't need anymore education to understand that is just wrong.

Jimmy J, I am not saying just throw money at education, lets make it priorty to educate our youth. Put the same effort into educating them as we do in killing them.We have the same problem in New Orleans Superintendant took 140k bribe to implement a math program to students. We need oversight. Company spent 1.4 million on lobbyist to get the program introduced to the school system, of which 140k ends up in pockets as bribes.

This war will be a war that are children and grandchild will be paying.
Whom ever is the next president elect will either have to raise taxes or do a flat tax. A flat tax means no breaks. So there will be less monies to spend+ Recession and depressions. Now compound that with the fact that jobs are flying out of this country left and right we are in trouble. The next president will spend only one term in office and that will bring a reign of the oposing party for at least 8 years.
Bush Senior lost office because when he took office a recession. Carter lost office because of outrageous interest rates amongst other things.
As for voting for someone because of taxes, here is an interesting observation I have made. One ends up paying them one way or another, both parties just go about it in different ways.
Democrats just come and out give one the taxes.
Republicans attache it to other things. The former govenor of my state wanted to add it to our electric bill. It was rather hush hush until it fail to pass. Then the new broadcasted it.
President Bush gave us all great tax cuts. However he increased the standards of education, at the same time cutting funded on education. What did that force the cities to do?? Increase property taxes to make up for the loss. One way or another bills come due and we the tax payers are going to pay it.
Here is something else interesting while a republican governor might not increase the state taxes. Pay attention to other state things, such as drivers license, ect. The price of them go up. One way or another they will get their monies.

Defense is funded because it is constitutionally directed. Education is not. Personally, I do not want to pay more taxes to a failed public school system. The city of Washington D.C. has some of the highest per pupil spending in the country and produces some of the worse results. They once asked for and received $63 million to repair school roofs. Only $7 million of the money went for roof repair. Why don't we just elminate the public school system and let the people who are having children pay for their education. I worked two jobs to put my son through private school. The doesn't make me special or any sort of hero, it simply indicates that I was responsible.

I am so tired of hearing people complain about the cost of the war. You realize that Medicare alone loses more than 20 billion a year right? Not a deficit, I mean they actually manage to 'misplace' around that much of their budget every year. It disappears into thin air. Medicare is also operating at a 6 trillion dollar deficit at last count. Look, I don't mind if you don't like the war or don't think we should be there, but complaining about the cost is pretty stupid when it's barely a drop in the bucket.

God was very specific when he gave over a hundred prophecies in the OT about the first coming of Jesus Christ. They were all literally fulfilled when Jesus came the first time. Therefore I have great confidence in the prophecies regarding his Second Coming. The Bible tells us that Jesus had to be born in Bethlehem. The name of the town was given hundreds of years before Christ was born. He must also be born of a woman who was a Jew. Mary's genealogy includes Jews. The Bible also says that the Messiah would be pierced (as Jesus was on the cross), and many other prophecies. The events that must take place when Jesus comes again have not occurred. When Jesus comes again, He will come out of the sky, shining bright so that no one could miss Him. the sky will be dark at the time, so every eye will see Him plainly. Your question is a good one. It is answered by paying attention to the specific details about the event given in the Bible. We know the Son of God, the Savior of the World, the Judge of the Living and the Dead has come because of the amount of prophecy he perfectly fulfilled. We know Jesus has not come the second time because the events have not unfolded in the way the Bible states.

This "Debt" you are talking about... Do you know who owns most of the debt we have to repay?

Here is a hint; I am answering a question written by one of the people who will benefit from the repayment of the debt.

How is that possible?

The national debt is based on bonds issued by the US government. The US buys and sells bonds from this and other counties as a form of long term investment.

In 20 years when the bonds are due the issuer has to pay the bonds back with interest.

The largest owner of US bonds? The US government, the US invests by buying it's own bonds...

So the majority of this "trillion dollars" we owe is being paid from the pockets of US citizens and is going in to the pockets of US citizens.

Mostly it will come from selling it off as debt. There's no politician out there that will have the guts to pay for that with your taxes. When it's sold as debt, your dollar's worth slowly declines, so that nest egg you saved isn't going to be worth as much.

The redistribution of wealth that especially Hillary talks about means, that she wants to take money from people who has worked their butts off to have some nice financial future, and give it to people, who could care less about working and paying for what they want. That does not include her and Bills money, just everyone Else's.

But what does "redistribution of wealth" have to do with the Iraq war, that is two different questions.
