No, I think they fall just short of the playoffs this season. The Steelers are in a transitional phase this year; New coach and all. I am not sold on Roethlisberger, and the vaunted Steelers "D" does not look as scary as a couple years ago when they won it all. This is how I see the division shaking out this year:
Cincinnati: 11 - 5 division winner
Baltimore: 9 - 7 wild card berth
Pittsburgh: 8 - 8
Cleveland: 5 - 11

There is a chance. I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will make the playoffs this year. If you consider everything that went wrong for them last year they only missed the playoffs by one game. Last year the Steelers lost a few games just because of muffed punts. But this year I expect them to have one of the best returners in the league with Willie Reid being healthy. I also think several of their players will have a better year. I expect Ike Taylor to have a breakout season. I think he has talent and is becoming more skilled at the corner position. I also expect Lawernce Timmons to play a big part in the Steelers defensive. With Joey Porter gone Timmons will fill the role of a pass rushing linebacker very well. Ben Roethlisberger is going to be better a quarterback this year. He has had a full year to recover from his motorcycle accident. Ben also said that he usually takes 2-3 months off in the off-season. But, this year he said he only took 2 weeks off this year. This will make him a better quarterback and more resistant to injury. The Steelers second year players will really shine too. Santonio Holmes will do great. Last year he showed flashes of greatness. I also believe Anthony Smith will have a good year. Last year I did not think Bill Cowher did a good job coaching. In all the years I could remember the Steelers were always coached very well by Cohwer. They were always motivated and got very few penalties. However last year was different. They seemed sloppy and not very well coached. However I am not saying that the new coach, Mike Tomlin, will be a big improvement his first year, but he will not be a big drop-off from what Cowher was last year. However one problem the Steelers will have is their secondary. There is no doubt that Troy Polamalu will have another Pro Bowl season. But the other cornerbacks and safeties will have to make a big improvement. I think Tomlin will help these defensive backs. Tomlin was the Defensive backs coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So my prediction for the Steelers this year is 11-5. This may be a very generous prediction. If they can just make teh playoffs they can do anything. Everybody knows what happen in the 2005.

I don't like the Steelers chances. Last time I recall a quarterback running a coach out of town (maybe an exaggeration in the Steelers case) and then hearing the quarterback mouthing off about the ex-coach...Elway and Dan Reeves, and it took the Broncos almost ten years to get back to finally win it all. Then again, they did replace Reeves with Wade Phillips which was pure Shakespearean comedy...much like Dallas will provide again.
This being said, I suspect Tomlin is a better coach than Phillips ever was/will be. However, I also not sure which QB Big Ben actually is...the protected Super Bowl XL winner, or the whinny sub par (see Rex Grossman) we saw last season. It could be that that decides how quick the Steelers return to winning form. Regardless, I suspect a few years before the Steelers will return to play in February.

They certainly have the talent. Their schedule is pretty good. The trouble I see with the Steelers is last year they acted like they were satisfied with their record and didn't give a hoot after winning the superbowl. I didn't see much of a team.
Now in the post Cowher phase I wonder if this team can be turned around. They no longer have anything to prove and they don't seem to be hungry. Compare them to the Patriots or the Bills, or the 49ers back in the day. These teams seemed even more determined after winning a superbowl.
Honestly, the Steelers should be winning superbowls with this team but I just don't see it.

Not I.
No offense to Willie Parker, Kevan Barlow, Najeh Davenport, Dan Kreider or any other RB on their roster BUT
NONE OF THEM are doing or can do for that matter for the running AND passing game what Jerome Bettis did.
He was what I like to call a BULL BACK. He could knock muthaf*kas DOWN.
MOVE!
GET OUT THE WAY.
GET OUT THE WAY.
GET OUT THE WAY.
GET OUT THE WAY.
MOVE!
They also don't have that receiver that can draw attention away from Hines Ward.
The rest of the team at present are at best 'maybe get 'em there in the future' players.
Big Ben came at the perfect time just as Trent Dilfer did in Baltimore and Tom Brady did in New England a few years back.
The REST OF THE TEAM WAS READY for that Super Bowl run and needed a QB that could come in and compliment the rest of the offense.
That was Ben in '05-'06 season.
It'll be a few more years IF and when Ben can take or go with Pittsburgh to another SB.
Of course every team SUPPOSEDLY has the same chance AND of course ANYTHING is possible, BUT
the Steelers play in the same division with Cincinnati and Baltimore.
It'll be one of them that will take the division and MAYBE go on to the SB.
In the AFC, I see pretty much a repeat of last season (06'-'07) with a STRONG CHANCE of Indianapolis repeating as SB Champs.
Once again, Colts D will shock and amaze. LLLLLOL.

Highly doubt they will....first they have a rookie head coach and then theres Worthlisberger who had a real bad season last year...he may up his game but he never was dat good even wen they were on the championship run he sucked in da superbowl...he had the lowest passer rating in superbowl history...the steelers were only good in der superbowl run because they had a dou running game with the BUS and Fast willie parker....nowadays they only have Fast willie parker and they still run the ball but not with the same Intensity..
oh yea and the steelers are playin in the hardest conference oh and yea they have pretty tough competition with the Ravens who have the best defense inthe nfl and the bengals who are looking to make up for last year.... oh and dont forget the browns who are ...well they suck but yea chaces are so great for the Steelers too bad

It's too early to Tell.....
I think that Your Organization is one of the Best in the NFL....The hiring of Tomlin was the Best move...Your team needs a Blood Transfusion of new ideas and coaching....Hiring Grimm or Wisenhunt would have been Huge mistakes because they would have been "buddy-buddy" with the Veterans...
The Weakness of your Team is the Outside Linebacking pass rushing...You lost Porter who was a Team Leader and you drafted two Rookies..(Lawrence Timmons has been injured thru OTMs).If you guys don't have this, you will put a lot of pressure on your Secondary...Santonio Holmes is going to be a Star for you Guys...Watch out for Anthony Smith (safety)..He's a Ball Hawk!!!
I do beleive that Big Ben WILL win Comback Player of the Year, and make his Critics look Stoooooooooopid.........

No one has won it more than the Steelers. Why would you not believe?
Willie Parker is the man. Last year was Ben's fluke.
Naysayers, watch your trash talking, you know at least one of us lives on your street.
Go Steelers!
