It's not because you ate fish. It's because you have a bacterial infection. Get to a doctor!

Hello and I do have a answer for you : why does everyone assume infection! The problem is that your body has a difficult time metabolizing and breaking down tma ( fish oil) It comes strong through your urine and the Urethra It s above the vagina (and below the clitoris) as you know .. So the smell you think is in the vaginal area when in fact it’s not. ONSET IS USUALLY 24-36 HRS AFTER YOU EAT THE SEAFOOD … the NEXT time you have the episodes just set SOME urine aside AND touch it . It will be very oily and thick to the touch. Now the answer is .. IT will always happen your body is sensitive to the specific oil . you may find its not all seafood it could be certain types. The next best thing is as you eat the fish follow it with pineapple juice or the fruit but you need enough for the acidic to assist in the breakdown of the seafood oil..

You may want to go the the dr. It sounds like the pH of your vaginal area is off. It could indicate an infection or just a change in the pH balance.

What ever you do, do not douche. Douching should only be done if your dr. says it is okay. Douching can make it smell good for a little time, but it can also alter the pH balance of your vagina.

Try using feminine washes, drink plenty of water, wear cotton panties. Do not wear tight clothing or wet clothing for long periods of time. Also try cleansing you vaginal area after each bathroom visit.

This should help. If these home remedies don't change the smell, make sure to contact your dr soon. Good Luck and don't worry.

Whenever people consume certain foods, the smells of those foods will be excreted somehow, someway. Say you eat onions. It will be noticeable on your breath, in your pits, and in your womanly area. Same with garlic. So of course it only makes sense that fish would do the same. I would recommend counteracting the scent by eating plenty of fiber and drinking plenty of water and, well, showering. :/ Men suffer from the same problems. I'm sure you've figured that out by now. Basically, it's perfectly normal for people to smell like what they eat. People need to be less fearful of this and just accept this!
[Little tip: Get your partner to eat what you do. Then it will be less noticeable for both of you. >:D]

A fishy smell in your vagina is caused by a bacterial infection probably BV. It's a very common infection and is not an sexually transmitted disease. It's sort of like the opposite of a yeast infection. The PH level of your vagina is off. The bacteria is a naturally occuring bacteria in your body, but because the PH is off, there is overgrowth of bacteria. See your doctor. It can be easily treated.

It has absolutely nothing to do with you eating fish a few days ago.

That's a new one on me i always thought a fishy smell way just from not washing yourself everyday. For your husband to smell fish when your legs were closed I would be embarrassed to. I know the doctors tell us not to douche but i would if i were you. You played that off really well with your husband coming in and saying that to you.

If there is anything going on down there that is not the norm - ie, smell, discharge, etc, you need to get to the doctor. If it seems off to you, that is because it probably is.

Call your OB ASAP!!!!!
