I mean, why aren't the other allies stepping up and taking casualties also? Terrorism isn't a war just on Israel, Britain, and the US, it's a war against Western civilization. It's a war against democracy! The other countries are being selfish by benefitng from the produce without planting anything. What do you think?

Because we're the only ones stupid enough to think that military force is an effective way to attack a concept.

The "war on terror" is a crusade against a concept, a concept that has existed since the dawn of civilization.

Using force to fight a concept is like using water to try and stop ice. All it does is make the situation worse.

Terrorism is not a war against democracy. It certainly wasn't when I was living my first 30 years in N. Ireland. The US didn't want to solve the terrorist problem there. What made a difference is that the US was attacked. That is the only difference. I live in germany and Germany has anti terror policies. Germany also has troops in Afgahnastan as do many other countries. The NATO forces are currently in Afgahnastan. If you are referring to Iraq then you have no right to ask for other countries help. That had nothing to do with a war on terror but had everything to do with a huge oil grab which the whole world saw right through and refused to support - with the exception of Britain and Australia. The US created the terrorist situation in Iraq by invading a sovereign country. And don't come back with the supporting terrorism bullshit either. Virtuallyevery country in the Middle supports terrorists to some extent. There are several countral that could have been invaded - Saudia Arabia, Iran, Syria, Jordan, and many more.

So don't go talking about terrorism unless you actually understand what you are talking about!

Mate, other countries have soldiers in Iraq apart from America and Britain. Just because they aren't as obvious and need their faces on TV doesn't mean that they aren't paying a price.

Remember! America made the stupid and arrogant decision to INVADE another country. They ignored the UN and went in. Seeing as America lead the invasion, it makes sense that they are on the front line. Also, the large population is also a factor in the amount of American solider in Iraq as opposed to smaller countries.

Many people like to say that this war is about us all, that we are all targets, but it's clear that only parts of the world are massive targets. While, in many western countries, the threat level has only risen moderately.

Doesn't it make sense that invading Iraq and Afghanistan might piss the terrorists off just a tad? It surprises me that you have such arrogance.

You say it's a war against democracy. I find this a joke since America has been holding people in Guantanamo Bay for almost 6 years without charge. People's civil liberties in this country are quite often exploited and i find it an insult, that you want other countries to have their countrymen and women die also, just because yours have.

Get some perspective, regardless of nationality, one soldier's death is one death too many and to try to equal the mortality rate across the various military involvement.

To say that those three countries are the only one fighting for the war is a slap in the face for other countries fighting for a war we didn't even start or believe in.

I am Australian. We are in Iraq because we have a history of backing up our mates, regardless of whether or not it is our fight or if we even started it.

Put it this way, if America had not of invaded Iraq, no other country would have. What does that tell you?

To also call countries like Australia selfish is a joke.

You mention that we have benefited from America's efforts? Are you kidding? If you seriously think that anyone has benefited from war, then you need a severe reality check. There has been no bloody benefit to us and because of your counrty's efforts, we are now a potential target for an attack. No benefit, just consequences. For nothing we did.

Thanks very much by the way.

You have to realise, that America is a very arrogant country who steps on whoever they choose. People are going to react badly to this, as you have seen.
There is no reason or excuse for any terror attacks, but it's obvious to the honest citizens, that if America had not acted made certain decisions, the world would be a safer place.

You are despised and hated because of your country's actions. Countries like Australia are not, because we don't invade countries, we don't strip civil liberties or human rights, we don't use guns to have a conversation and would use force as a last resort. It does not solve anything.

You are only fighting terrorism now because America was attacked on 9/11 Britain and Israel have been fighting it for years .The IRA got most of its funding from USA and nobody came to Britain's aid in actual fact it was encouraged by some.
Also Australia have always supported USA even though most of us believe 9/11 happened because America turned a blind eye to how the Palestians were treated and as you say you reap what you sow but unfortunately the whole world has to suffer.

The US is the primary target for terrorist, treason being the terrorist know that if the US fails the western world fails.
However the western world with the exception of a few find it difficult to see this, or lack the ability or desire to do something about it.
The threat terrorism brings is hard to see and many do not fully understand the danger, many do not know who the enemy is. It is not like you are fighting Nazi Germany etc, to where you have a defined enemy. In many countries the threat is distant and not perceived. In other countries it is seen and enough of the population is prepared to do something about it.

1st they came for the Jews, I was not a Jew so I did nothing. Then they came for the Gypsies, I was not a Gypsies. Then the communist, the homosexuals, the handicapped, the ones that thought different. When they came for me, no one did nothing. They was no one left.

In case you don't notice it, most of the world aren't 'Western civilization' and 'democracy', they are sometimes attacked because they're not 'Western civilization' and 'democracy'.

Considering most countries in the world are capable of being classified as 'helping terrorism', it's no wonder that not many are willing to be allies, and even the allies are only allies after coercion ('terrorist attack', trade sanctions, etc) or payoff.

If you will read your history books when Hitler was ascending to power none of the European countries moved to stop him. They appeased him and accepted his promises of peace and harmony. How long did it last? Hitler made his move and invaded Poland and Europe was in shock. They were unprepared in spite of they saw what Hitler was doing to his military.....a total build up since he gained power. What did England do? Nothing! What did France do? Absolutely nothing! What did the other European countries do? They had discussions. Today we don't even have discussions. Some countries regard the Muslims as the "good guys" and the moderates are harmless. ABSOLUTE NONSENSE!!!
All Muslims have a stake in this slow, methodical warfare that is creeping up on us and we will soon have our hands full of these terrorists who plan to put us out of the picture. It is now that we must act in unity to force the Muslims out of our countries and back to the middle east where most of them come from. If we cannot see what the Muslims are planning then were are fools and we will be invaded and an awful war will ensue. We will probably lose because we fight to win and they fight to die and go to glory. To them dying is a holy experience and I am one who wishes to help these Muslim reach their goal of martyrdom ASAP. The faster the better.

Hey check your facts before you write stuff like that. Sorry to tell you this, but the US isn't the centre of the world.

We have a Prime Minister in Australia, all gung-ho for it, and a staunch US supporter of this so-called "War on Terror". We've lost citizens in your "western civilization" war as well.

There are MANY other nations involved - it's just that they don't blow their trumpets like Americans do.

Iran and they have actually helped with groups the US has been fighting recently. Iran helped the US overthrow the Taliban and al quaida in Afghanistan, their reward was being labeled part of an axis of evil.

Ah....WAR ON TERROR rings right up there with RED SCARE doesn't it?
We have no 'allies' anymore. There is no way to wage war on terror. That's like saying you're gonna quiet a screaming baby by slapping it around.
Our government went against everyone(including the UN) and invaded Iraq looking for WMD. didn't find them. Now we are blasting the crap out of the country to establish peace and what's worse....WE ARE UNINVITED.
As far as terrorism goes, we have bred a few fine ones right here: Oklahoma city bombing, Columbine, Padukah, Ky, Amish schoolhouse shooting, etc....
I'm tired of trying to explain this.
Peace out, man.

You are wrong. US and UK are not fighting terrorism. What they are doing is serving their own interests in a very narrow sense. Israel however is fighting the demon of terrorism in right perspective. It was Israel who have been warning the world of spread of terrorism. This was on their shores and gradually spread.
We in India are also fightring terrorism which is openly sponsered by another country. It has been recognised world over that this particular country has been in the forefront in churning out terror from their terror factories. Most of the so called Jehadis get their terror training in this country. Still Bush and UK PM call this country as their strongest ally to fight against terrorism.
It looks like 'Bush & Mush Pact' that spells that Mush will not export terror to US shores and in turn Bush will keep feeding Mush and make their terror factories a world class export hub.
