NYC vs LA?

Question

The two largest cities in America, both are culturally and economically influential, but both could not be ANYMORE DIFFERENT!

Which do you choose and why?

Where's all the California kids at? I'm so disappointed.

CHICAGO is located right along Lake Aerie and is thus, very windy. Chicago is VERY cold in the winter and bright sunny days are rare (during the winter) One positive about Chicago is the fact there is a nice lake front with clean water. Chicago has alot of museums, restaurants and people but as someone else said.. it is very segregated, meaning each neighborhood has certain kinds of people and they don't mix much. Chicago also has alot of crime and most areas of the city aren't safe. Another con is the fact they are in the midwest, so after leaving the city, there is nothing else to see or do. Not much culture either. LA is located along the pacific ocean. It has Hollywood, Beverly hills, amusement parks and other greatt, family attractions. LA is always warm and has nice weather year round. Unfortunately, the nice weather doesn't even matter because there are wildfires every year, earthquakes (most can't be felt) and expensive. I wouldn't want to live in a place where I have my home, and there is a HIGH possibility of being gone. Due to all these natural disasters. Also, Los Angeles has alot of crime and most people are arrogant. The stereotype about being able to surf, go to school/work and then go skiing is false. Not with the LA traffic, and there is no good transportation like NYC, Chicago or San Francisco. NYC is the best place to live. I love that place so much and all of it's people. NY has great food,people,sights, a rich history and nice location. NYC is located along the east and Hudson rivers. It has all for seasons and fabulous culture. Christmas is a great time for shopping among New Yorkers and tourists. Statue of Liberty, Radio City music hall, Brooklyn bridge, Chinatown, Little Italy, 2 more Chinatowns, an "Indian town" diversity and unlike Chicago everyone comes together. Great, effective public transportation system and most subway lines run 24/7 365. Chicago doesn't have a park that could compare to central park. Times Square, and no other city in the whole world has nothing like TS. A place where all nations cross the street every day. It's a world class city and it's the better of all 3 you mentioned. And maybe, the best in the world!

Having lived in both places, I can honestly say NYC. The food and cultural opportunities and diversity bares no comparison. In L.A. They have businesses advertised or named "New York..... Pizza, Deli, cheesecake" In New York, they brag about being the original of something or the best in New York, you don't often here businesses competing with "Los Angeles.... anything"

Come on, man! Obviously NYC is far more important. NYC is the site and capital of the world's most important financial, economic and communication organizations. It is by far the most cosmopolitan city in the US (and probably in the world) and, in short, IT'S BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT CITY IN THE WORLD, for business, politics, arts, culture, fashion, commerce, transportation, you name it.

LA is simply a messy and disorderly overpopulated city, with a combination of a jet-set minority (Hollywood, Santa Monica and other nice beaches' residents) and a majority of people with poor culture and education levels, tons of illegal immigrants, lots of Hispanic-people-only areas (East L.A. mainly) with low-income and high-crime rates. No doubt it is the "Mecca" of movies and music, and it has lots of pretty girls, great top-notch suburbs, hotels, restaurants and night life, and above all, GREAT BEACHES, but NYC has all of that and more (except the great beaches and pretty girls). And yes, the weather is far better in L.A. than in NYC, but the pollution and traffic aren't.

For vacation or even to retire, L.A.'s west area (the area of the jet-set beaches and Hollywood) is probably better than NYC, but for anything else, LA is nothing compared with NYC!

i m a big city person, born and raised in LA, never been to NYC before. i guess it aint to hard for you to figure out my answer. well, i liked chicago when i was there a year ago. as long as NYC is no less than chicago, then i think i ll be fine living in NYC no less than LA. btw, LA got the finest weather. >P peace!!!

NYC. Because you can take a plane to Laguardia or JFK and ride the train or bus into Manhattan. Then you can use the subway ( $7 one day pass) to see a lot in one day. New York is great.

I honestly didn't like the pace and crowds of NY, so I guess LA is a little more relaxed. I pick LA.
