This is going to sound like a strange question. What is it that causes some men to become violent towards their partner when she becomes pregnant. Homicide is one of the leading causes of deaths in pregnant women (Laci Peterson and Jesse Davis). Some studies have shown that domestic violence increases when a woman is pregnant. Can someone explain to me what goes through these guys' heads? Don't hold back. I really want to know.

The first thing i can think of is that they feel trapped? (control/finances issues.. ect.) Or become jealous of the thought of sharing the woman they love. Some just don't want to become dads?

Or maybe they're just not mentally able to handle even the thought of being responsible for another life. Possibly they are just violent by nature, or upbringing? Learned to be violent toward women..

Some men are maybe just selfish.. ?

If a man is abusive, he is abusive. Pregnancy or not. Actually, I found the exact opposite to be true. My hubs had patience of steel when I was pregnant. (he needed it too!) I think most men that love their wives do. Real men don't abuse women. And real men don't use pregnancy as an excuse for it. There is NO excuse for it.

Abuse is related to control issues and pregnancy takes the woman out of the man's control. She will see other people, doctors if no one else and be thinking of other things, like the baby, rather than the man. The man will also have how he spends his income, like diapers and formula that he can no longer spend on himself.

Not that I'm an expert on this, but ny guess is that they feel trapped. Like they have no choice and now are stuck. Comitment is scrary. And not knowing how to handle things is also scary. the unknown can also be. those are just my thoughts.
