Unfortunately not as well as we used to. Apparently schools just don't teach it like they used to. When I went to school it was something we had to know. We had to study. As an American it is embarrassing!!!!!!!!!

Americans need to brush up on **their** grammar first. And the fact that a guy with a funny accent was confusing even the people that knew some things doesn't really show anything. If you were shown the Colosseum from Rome and told while being filmed that there certainly is an older one in Australia that you had never heard of, would you start arguing? I don't think you would.

You cannot take any video and assume it is typical. The editor decides what stays and what goes. You can't seriously take this as a legitimate sample of American geography knowledge, can you?
While not a scientific study, the website below conducted a Internet contest on geography with the US defeating the UK. I guess neither says much, does it?

Americans don't know their geography. Ir's an embarrasment to the rest of the devolped world. most don't even know what geography means! so sad.

when i told kids in 4th grade in la i was indian, they asked me if i really was native american. i am from india.
one girl in my speech class thought some middle eastern country was in south america and india was near the middle east. also, having watched jay leno several times, i have concluded americans in general are terrible at geography.
u know that part when leno quizzes strangers on all questions.
