My mother was throwing out and old 'automatic' toaster - it has a motor that lowers and raises the toast. It had stopped working when I was, like, 10 and she was finally throwing it out.
"No, no!" I said and took the darn thing home.
I'm no fixit man and am not normally great at repairing mechanical things but when I took it apart I saw a wire that looked like it needed to be stuck under a screw.
It's work just great for me for the last twenty years and you are the only other person that knows!

I don't own it, since it came with the house I am renting, but the stove here is from the 30's or 40's I think. (too lazy to get up and go see what brand it is) But it has a warming drawer, oven, and four eyes. The large back eye slides down into the stove top to hold a stock pot and the control for it is different than the rest of the eyes. The eyes still work, but the element has stopped working for the oven. If I knew where to find a replacement part, I'm sure it would still work, too.

Appliance? A clothes dryer that we use weekly. It was bought new by my parents sometime in the 1970s, so it is 30 to 40 years old. Still works great, but it is a faded "Harvest Gold" in color, not too attractive any more.
