I quit shopping at Wal-mart mainly because I couldn't stand going in the store anymore. The store near me is always out of stock of a lot of items. and they always have the longest lines because they only have like 10 checkers there. I feel so good about not going there anymore. Then I started to hear about what a rotten company they are and I feel even better. Getting off my Wal-mart addiction was like getting off heroin. but i feel so good now.

The problem is not that Wal-Mart offers the products. The problem is that people buy them. If Wal-Mart didn't sell them and the consumers want them, there will just be another company that sells cheap foreign products.

It's actually not that bad. If you're a poor American and can get a TV for $150 instead of $500, because it's made by even poorer people in Malaysia, both the poor American (who gets a cheap TV) and the poor Malaysian (who is happy to have a job) are better off.

You can't stop globalization by a boycott. America has to educate its citizens to move up the value chain and do jobs that are higher value-adding than assembling TVs. The times have passed where we can compete with low-cost countries. Boycotts are not going to change that.

As for the recalls, I believe that's the responsibility of the manufacturers, not the retailers. But I may be wrongly informed...

If walmart stopped hiring illiterate immigrants and crack-heads, maybe it would be a nicer place to shop! Because of conformity, walmart has lost the focus Sam Walton started. Some walmarts have only Latino cashiers who speak ESL. and other walmarts only have rap and Wesley snipes movies. There are no medium sized clothes on the shelves and the toys are the movie/corporate sponsor of the week. You see the corporations, in their big corporation buildings just sit there, all corporationy and then the hang out with their corporation friends and figure out how to rule the world through corporation.

I know of no boycott. I do suppose Sam Walton is turning flips in his grave as we speak. He was very much opposed to outsourcing, and tried to do business with American companies. Since he died, the company has all but forced their vendors to outsource for the sake of profit.

When the people they are trying to sell the products to do not have the money to buy the products they are trying to sell, since they no longer have decent jobs, or no job at all, it might sink in that they need to bring the work back here.

It will take a huge hit to profits to get their attention, though. That's the way of corporate America.

I still cannot fathom how we can be such a great trade partner with a communist nation, with limited, or no human rights policies. I also think we should repeal NAFTA. There again, too much money has changed hands to make that a reality.

Oooo, I HATE Wal-mart! They always, and I mean ALWAYS have sh!tty customer service. They will have 5 checkouts open with 10 people in each line. Try to find something and get "Thats not my department" instead of "i'll get you someone from that department". That falls under the customer service thing, oops. I will do my clothes shopping at one store and then get my groceries at another store and find out that I actually only spent about 2 dollars more that way but didnt have to deal with the headache.

I haven't shopped at Wal-Mart in years. Just go across the street to Target. They have the same stuff, only it's way better quality and the store is clean and easy to shop. And the workers are friendlier too. Not only are they bad to their workers, they're also bad to their customers! And, the reverend is wrong, most claims against them are very true. I should know, my stepfather worked for Wal-mart for 30 years.

Wallmart is not at a loss for customers even if we don't shop there. Those who go there are willing to buy cheap chinese products, and so it goes on.... Globalization is a reality...

FACTS: Wallmarts is China's 8th largest purchaser... and
China takes the money and buys weapons for Afghanistan to shoot back at us.
Most of China's products are made by prisoners...

It's a small world after all....

Big deal. So you are one person out of the billions that shop at Wal-Mart. Most of the claims made against them are false.
