I often think that people do not intentionally set out to hurt anyone with their actions, it just happens.
Sometimes people find themselves in a situation, where for whatever reason or a multitude of them, they end up hurting the Innocent and sadly sometimes that includes kids.
The trick here is to get on with whatever it is that you have to do in your life as quickly as you can to keep things moving, in turn people usually find the anger, pain and frustration of the situation eases faster as they are busy. focus on the future
Some times selfishness comes from being lost in side and looking for new horizons
Hope this helps you to understand a little, in time it does get easier

They think other people are just objects and that the world revolves around themselves. It is really just learned through observation of their own surroundings. Their family, friends, etc. are like this and they haven't learned that their existence is 1/6billionth of a whole. Selfishness is definately learned most from observation of one's surrounding, however innate feelings do have place. But you can learn to be not selfish, just like you can learn a foreign language by living in a foreign nation.

It's not just nowadays. Throughout time people have been selfish. It's human nature to want everything for yourself and not care about other people. I find myself sometimes becoming greedy and selfish. I hate it when I feel that way! Some people can control that feeling and others can't.

If there's one thing I've come to realise that in this life people are selfish (and I'm not saying this to offend anyone). It's just the truth. It's human nature and it's called Survival for some.

Because sometimes parents don't always think first.
Also because parents are also people with needs and wants. Unfortunately they don't always think of the consequences their actions will have.

sometimes things that seem OK at the time, and feel good in the moment -- feel very bad emotionally in the future, especially when you see how those actions effect other people.
