Reagan was smeared mercilessly by the haters, but ultimately proven to be among the greatest Presidents ever.

I see the same in Bush. Boldly following his vision to greatness while ignoring the whiners.

There are similarities and differences.
Both had administrations filled with scandal.
Both showed an alarming inability to control spending despite constantly talking about fiscal responsibility.
Both claimed the growth that resulted from the out of control deficit spending was actually caused by tax cuts despite all evidence suggesting this was not the case.
The main differences would seem to be
Bush hasn't cut and run from Iraq (although he seems to be ignoring Afghanistan) like Reagan did in Lebanon.
Reagan chose to have his administration deal in cocaine while Bush has stayed out of the heroin industry that was created in the power vacuum his negligence of Afghanistan created.
Reagan was popular - Bush is not.

Not in the least.

Reagan had lots of support from moderates, independants like myself, and from many democrats as well (perhaps you've heard of the "Reagan democrats").

Only Bush's side - the republicans - support him, and many of them don't even support him any more, as his low approval ratings show.

A great part of Reagan's popularity was due to the fact that he was very charismatic and an excellent speaker. Bush often seems hardly able to form a complete sentence.

Reagan also had a number of accomplishments that even his detractors don't deny. Helping to end the Cold War was the major one, and definitely something he's remembered for.

In contrast, Bush has accomplished very little. He will most likely be remembered for starting a war in Iraq that turned into a total fiasco.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Bush's "greatness." Would you like to clarify what exactly makes him great?

Reagan is only worshiped (keyword being worship) by Republicans, I've heard my democrat brother and republican father debate about Reagan being the best president 50000 times.

And no, it's political suicide to be associated with Bush in the upcoming election. His approval ratings are in the 30's Reagan's were in the 60's at the end of his term.

Bush in no way will ever be anything close to "greatness", he's got just over a year left and so far he hasn't done anything remotely good.

You, sir, are delusional.

Reagan one of the greatest presidents ever? For what? Happening to be in office when the Soviet Union imploded? Bush and Reagan do share somethings ...... failed policies and scandals.

Reagan had more brains than Bush. Bush's problem is that he has always had it easy and has never suffered like regular people. He is not a self-made man. Reagan was.

You are mistaken if you think that Reagan is viewed as one of the greatest. There are still many people who do not like him and who contend that he was not all that great. This is especially evident amongst the intellectual/scholarly people.

I don't ever see him getting the Greatest Leader title, but he is in fact a much better leader than he is given credit.
