The little things that people do when they don't even realize you're sad. Such as someone calling me out of the blue just to say hi or some sort of compliment or a hug.

Hi Phoebe,
I do something for others. It can be as simple as smiling at everyone you see on your walk, to serving meals for the homeless. You have to get OUT of the house and OUT of yourself. When you get a smile back, it makes you feel better, the more smiles you get, the better you feel. Seeing how others have to live (even when it's not much worse than how you are living) gives you perspective.

A good part of depression is that we keep going over what made us depressed in the first place. That just keeps us in the morass. Cry out what you must, then go out.

When you are sad, I will get you drunk and help you plot revenge against the scum sucking b@stard who made you sad.
When you are blue, I'll try to dislodge whatever's choking you.
When you smile, I'll know you finally got laid.
When you are scared, I will rag you about it every chance I get.
When you are worried, I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.
When you are confused, I will use little words to explain it to your dumb @ss.
When you are sick, stay away from me until you're well again, I don't want whatever you have.
When you fall, I will point and laugh at your clumsy @ss.
This is my oath, I pledge till the end.
Why you may ask? Because you're my friend.
Send this to ten of your closest friends and get depressed because you only have 2 friends, and one's not speaking to you right now anyway.

A call from one of my children, a cat purring while laying on my chest, birds coming for the food I put out, a dog to sleep with (a real dog, I'm not referring to one of my exhusbands.)

Note: Sam proves you don't have to know how to spell masturbation to enjoy it.
