Religion is part of it, upbringing is part of it, and ignorance is part of it. Becuase of these things there are a lot of sexually repressed people out there that were brought up oblivious to thier sexuality and go through out thier lives living with misinformation and are unwilling to open up thier minds to realize exactly why it exists and what needs it fills.
They want to point at something and say ahh that's the problem, that's why so and so did this it was the porn it made him sick and twisted and evil. So we should just ban it and throw the producers of it in jail.
It's much easier to do that then take a look around and try to understand exactly what caused the person to be the sick individual that they are. It might actually force them to understand that a lot of a persons problems can be traced back to thier upbringing.
For example, now a days we see a child running around acting out and being an absolute nuisance. Societies solution to it is to diagnose the kid with ADD and shoot him full of ritilan. When in all actuallity it is more then likely the kid is acting this way due to a total lack of discipline and structure in the home. Which in turn might cause them to realize that the lack of discipline and structure in the home might be due to the parents own laziness and total abscense from thier childs life. It might even make them look even further and people might realize that CPS has forced the parents to stop disciplining kids in fear of going to jail.
People never stop to realize that thier own actions are usually the cause of the problem, it's always something or some one elses fault.

Well mostly porn is simply a natural thing to want to watch and its okay to watch it, and in fact it can even help strengthen a relationship if you watch with a partner and develop new ways of pleasing each other and making each other happy. However, its a double edged sword. If you get addicted to porn then it can ruin your life, you could get fired from a job (regardless of how natural it is there are some places its just not appropriate especially when you have a job to do for a company that pays you to do it) or kicked out of school. Really this is just like everything else in the world. Like junk food (ice-cream, cake, brownies, etc) it is pleasing and can be a good thing in small amounts, but then in large amounts can be potentially harmful or disastrous. So you don't have to never ever watch porn, but also don't let it become a ruling factor in your life, the trick is to find a healthy middle ground.

RE:
Why do people think porn is perverted, sick, and wrong?
Yes, I am a woman and I am married too. My husband and I both enjoy porn together, but we both look at it alone too. For me personally I think it's a healthy way of exploring your curiosity without involving other people. Why do so many people think it is SO wrong and perverted?

Commonly people will tell you that porn will deprave and unsettle others that watch it but very few say that they have been depraved and unsettled by watching porn themselves.
Most of us do not confuse the images we see on TV or video with reality. Watching a TV drama does not cause confusion that what we are watching is either real life or more significantly, part of our life. The same is true of porn.
Watching porn does not make me believe that the women portrayed in the films are actually experiencing the emotions they act out or that they are representative of reality.
The difficult questions are not about watching porn but about how it is made. Typically, a whole range of behaviours will be acted out, often involving multiple partners, and the question has to be asked as to whether what the performers are doing is moral. If the view is that it is immoral, by watching in return for payment of money, we are encouraging and condoning what they are doing.
As a general principle, if we believe killing to be wrong it would be wrong to condone the act by providing a financial reward for making it accessible and if that principle applies it would be equally wrong to condone sexual acts which we consider immoral on the same basis. The problem is, pornography is only exciting because we do believe that what is happening is immoral. If we did not consider it so, it would be no moral dillema involved and no excitement from watching it. If all we wanted to see was "normal" sex we could just as easily tape ourselves and watch that.
I don't believe that watching pornography is intrinsically bad or that it would normally have any negative impact on people who watch it but that there are possibilities of desensitization occuring and that it does explicitely condone and support immorality in others without necessarily encouraging it in the viewer.

I guess I'm one of the closed minded people. I believe it is wrong to look at porn. To me, a husband and wife should share intimacy only with each other and in my mind that includes not looking at the intimate activities of others. I also believe that it often escalates and for some even becomes an addiction. I know a lot of things can become and addiction, but the more a person can avoid the better.

to each their own, viewed with adult eyes in the privacy of your own home, no big deal. I've watched it, hubby has watched it. I think the only time its a problem is when it invades and takes over your life. I think the same for internet porn or strip clubs, fine and dandy in moderation but when it comes between 2 people in a marriage or one devotes all his/her time to it, then its not good for anyone. They should get help.

I know...
Too often, a woman's reaction to their partner enjoying erotica is one of offense; their sexual identity is somehow threatened; believing that their partner's arousal and satisfaction should come exclusively from their vagina/mouth/hand. That is sad.
There are men in this world that are totally threatened by women's sex toys (vibrators, dildos, etc.), feeling that a woman (their wife, gf) should receive pleasure only from THEM. That is just pathetic. They have some serious self-image/penis issues to deal with.
Hilton, Marriot, Hyatt, Sheraton and Holiday Inn all offer adult films on in-room pay-per-view television systems. And they are purchased by a whopping 50 percent of their guests, accounting for nearly 70 percent of their in-room profits. One hotel owner said, "We have to have it. Our guests demand it.”
There are well over 800 million rentals of adult videotapes and DVDs in video stores across the country, and that's not 800 guys renting a million tapes each.

Cause it is.
Problem with your statement is to forget that the people on the other side (usually the women) were sexually abused as children and do porn to get some kind of attention.
Most porn sexualizes children (especially the "teen dream" porn)
But for the most part, porn shows an unrealistic portrayal of sex. Nobody says the things that they say in porn nor do they do the things that the do in porn.
I've seen enough to say positively, "I have seen enough."
