No, there are all kinds of hymens (4 that I know of well 3 if you don't count the absence of one). You might have to have the doctor remove it for you to use I tampon. I know my mom had to do that. Who knows maybe your mom did too.

alright so this is random but I have the same thing. I had to go to an O.B. and they made a sort of big deal at first, but said that it happens to a couple of people and it's not abnormal. I went on vacation and I didn't have my period yet, but two days before I left for home I got it. When I got home I went for another check up and the doctor said that the estrogen building so that I'd have my period actually broke through the hymen. It's weird because the doctor says there is a hole but i don't see one! This is a problem for me because I'm a swimmer. There is a minor surgery you can have done to have your hymen cut, which I might have. Honestly though, you have to tell your mom if you're worried she'll be concerned even if she's a little weirded out, she wants to help, so just tell her!

well you can always search on the internet on a medical site for some information. make sure its a good site and not some fake one.
but a doctor would be best,
i really don't know what a microperforate hymen is but about the period lasting for months....thats not good because that happend to me and ended up with a tumor in my ovary. i was also about your age when it started.
but maybe your period lasting for months may be due to that microperforate hymen. so it may be a different cause
but i am not a doctor and don't want to say something wrong.
DON'T BE EMBARRASED to ask your mom, thats why she is there to help you, a mother is the perfect person to trust if she is a good person, also an older sister, or someone who is a female family that you trust. its better to tell your mom that way you can prevent some sort of cancer or anything bad from happening. and you won't regret not telling her sooner.
hope everything works out.

You really shouldn't be too embarrassed to talk to your mom, you need to talk to her right now. Your mom isn't going to say or do anything to embarrass you, she loves you and will help you. Your mom has experienced a lot of things that you will experience so try to over-come your embarrassment and talk to her. There's nothing to be embarrassed about.
If you are really that embarrassed to talk to her, write her a note telling her that you are embarrassed but have some "female" problems. This will let her know how you feel and she'll approach you with that in mind.
Would you be too embarrassed to talk to a doctor about your problems? If not, tell your mom you need/want to go to a doctor.
I'm a mom of two grown daughters (21 & 25) and they've never been too embarrassed to talk to me about anything. You really shouldn't be either with your mom. Us moms aren't so bad : )

If I was you, I would tell your mom so she can make an appointment for a doctor. Your period my be still adjusting to its normal schedule, but if you have any question or feel unsure about anything ask your mom for help or go see a doctor.

You have got to tell your mom and you need to go see your doctor. Having your period for months is abnormal. If you don't see your doctor now, it can get worse.

Well, all that i can tell you is to go to your OB-GYN because your period shouldn`t last that long at all.Don`t be scared to ask your mom because she would be the main person that could help you. She can help you way more then any of us on here can.

you may need to have your hymen surgically removed, it's time for you to see a gynecologist, so you are going to have to grow up a bit and tell your mom your concerns so she can do what a parent is supposed to do and have you cared for.
