Rafael Palmeiro broke my heart. Of all the guys that were clouded by the performance enhancing drugs scandal, I really believed him when he pointed his finger at Congress and said that he'd never use steroids. I was such a fan, and I delighted in his career.
Then he was busted. He didn't come clean even then. He even implied that some one had shot him up. It was almost like when Kennedy was shot. The world just wasn't as important after Raffy showed his true personality.
Hall of Fame? It will be a long time before the writers put him in. If they ever do, I don't give a damn.

He better be. As was said before he is a poster boy for this, like Bonds.

Even if they did do steroids you have to remember that IT WAS NOT ILLEGAL at the time, although I cant remember if Palmeiro got busted again.

Anyways, I think anything Pre-Balco/beginning of test era should be left alone.

Selig knew that these players were doin this but needed the HR's and attention to revive baseball which was suffering from the lockout.

As it was not illegal, although morally wrong, I dont see how he (Selig) can come back almost 10 yrs later and try to seek consequences (even if he is being pressured) for something he let go when it helped the bottom line.

I jus dont think its fair for the sport to turn on the players like that, use and abuse mentality.

As it was not illegal, and MLB had no intention of makin it that way. How can you take guys, who were gonna be HOF's anyways, out for the Hall of Fame?

Baseball had crappy guidelines for players so whos fault is it. Remember when they FINALLY did get testing for these HGH and roids, it took them forever and there was no penalty for a 1st time response, because Selig knew most of these guys were in on it, IT WASNT ILLGEGAL.

You want to put an Asterik beside them then go ahead, jus add another so you know it was during Seligs tenure.

Well, even unlike Bonds and McGuire, Palmeiro was caught flat out. There's no denying he cheated. For that reason, he doesn't deserve to go in. Remember, a corked bat is a temporary advantage. But once you start messing with muscle tissue, it gets a lot stickier.

He disgraced himself by testifying in front on Congress that he never took steroids, and them he fails a test. He probably could have been a first time ballot entry.. Now he will be on the sidelines watching as other players, perhaps mediocre at best that he was much better than get in because he got caught cheating. A complete waste of a great career

I do think he deserves it and, had I a ballot, I'd vote for him.

But he's the smoking gun candidate, and I think the writers are going to crush him. His potential first ballot is a long way off -- 2011 -- and a lot could happen in that time. But today I'm predicting he is doomed, and I wonder if, having done that, the writers will consider that they've spilled enough blood and treat the unsubstantiated suspects more fairly. Just gotta wait and find out.

I think any of the suspected players will forever have an issue getting into the Hall. Though many do have the numbers, it is a black eye for baseball. So, in a one word answer, "No."

He has the numbers but he will never make it, Now if he came out and said he did steroids I'd tell you he might but considering he lied to congress in such a hostile way and than was dumb enough to fail a test not more than a year later, The sports writers will never vote him in

Although he has great credentials, his lying to congress about his steroid use could cost him entry into the HOF. He's looked at as a liar and cheat and that won't change anytime soon.

He has the statistical numbers to get in, but after he got busted for using steroids, his chances have diminished. I hope he does get in, but I don't think that he will.
