Americans are now towed by politicians and government into oblivion and foolishness. Paris Hilton is the epitome of an American citizen, to evade the law even when she knows that she violated it.

This "paris phenomenon" reminds me of the movie "Network". When "Network" was released, the idea that network news could become for-profit programming, with news content determined by its potential to generate revenue, was merely a "shades of 1984" Orwellian "what if" scenario. Another "futuristic" concept presented in that movie was that the media airwaves could be wrestled out of the hands of the public domain and into the control of a powerful, omnipotent few. Today, those "theoretical" concepts are now the reality of our conglomerate-controlled mainstream mass media.
If you're interested in an alternative, try LINK TV, specifically Democracy Now!, a Mon-Fri one-hour news program. The only way Democracy Now! will mention Paris is if something significant is happening there. Here's a link to recent headlines:

She represents the great whore of babylon.
The masses are riveted by her.
Meanwhile, something is going on with the Hilton Hotel chain... follow the business news and you'll see what I mean. Makes you wonder if the daughter's antics aren't a cover for some huge corporate shenanagins.

good question.....
It's kind of like Anna Nicole Smith's death. Even though over 400,000 people have died in Darfur it seems like the death of one drunken gold digger is more significant.
