Yes, my old church was doing that a lot before last Fall's elections.. A few people questioned it and got the ole 'silent treatment' and ended up leaving. I left not too much later.

My wife and I are looking for a Church, so we do not hear a sermon every Sunday. However, the Bible is very clear as to its stance on all of the key issues of today. For instance, the Bible is unquestionably against homosexuality and abortion, yet you will not hear many sermons from the pulpit on those issues. What you will hear is the "Joel Osteen" brand of preaching which is basically a pep rally devoid of the gospel, repentance, holiness, the infilling of the Spirit - pretty much devoid of substance and presented in a way to not offend and keep the coffers full. It is "feel good" church and it makes me want to vomit.
Most credible ministers treat the office of the President with the respect that it deserves and do not preach politics from the pulpit.

You found organized religon hypocritical? Okay, as a christian I will tell you there are many hypocritical churches, but also there are some very good ones. You need to do some more research. Now I hope you don't support hypocritical libs like Hillary, Pelosi, Kennedy, Gore, Reid, and so on.........

Would you mind listing these "facts" and "things" that are wrong? What exactly is hypocritical? I would agree the individuals will show hypocrisy, however that is just human nature and will happen with Christians and non-Christians alike. Sounds to me like you were never knowledgeable to begin with and went out and got edumecated. I see you have been taught well... belittling those you disagree with and quoting liberal bloggers.. you should be proud.

Many religious people are quiet hypocritical! People use Christ's name to commit all kinds of horrors on people of other races and religions! Many of these people think that humans of another race and religions are not human at all and it is perfectly O.K. to kill them all. I am sure these type of people do believe that Bush is on a divine mission!

They haven't changed a bit. You did well to get away from them. They still sabotage the progress of humanity with their superstitious nonsense. In fear of a loss of power that they are experiencing, they've become more dangerous, more underhanded, more deceiving, and more infatuated with their sky fairy theories that revolt the consciousness of an enlightened society.

I know religious people who say Bush was divinely chosen to open up Iraq to Christianity... maybe so, but it's looking like he might have been chosen to finish off the GOP.

Every priest I've ever talked to (Including Mine) prayed for ALL our leaders, EVERYDAY to lead us in the RIGHT DIRECTION, not just George Bush.
By the way, are you scared of Religion? All these questions and claims towards religious people, it almost sounds like you are Atheist/Dumb.

Try going back to church with an open mind and open heart. You may find what was missing before. Not all churches are hypocritical.
