Just wondering what you guys thoughts on this was. I was just noticing how everyone is expected to be confident in themselves in order to achieve their goals in life, but most of the confident people I know tend to come off as arrogant. What do you think the difference in these two adjectives are?

I have a lot of confidence and it is noticed with my speech, walk, and just general demeanor.

Confident -sure of oneself; having no uncertainty about one's own abilities, correctness, successfulness

Arrogant- making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbearingly assuming; insolently proud

To me, arrogant people tend to look down on others. This puts them in a superior position. Does not come from within. This is only one example of course... this also does not limit the possible answers. I am sure you will have a wide range of answers. Hopefully this puts it in a little bit more perspective.

well confidence is the belief in yourself to achieve the task ahead of you. arrogance is the need to let everyone else in the world know how amazing you are. confidence and arrogance come together often (sadly) but you can have one without the other

If u have confidence you will smile and be polite and have faith that you know that you are doing the right thing. Arrogance is those people you see who have on the perfect clothing and there hair is always done perfectly, walking with their little puppies and sucking on their Starbucks thinking they are the ****

I don't think there is much difference.

It's just that the Confident people believe it a little more deep down,

While Arrogant people may have a few doubts.

Confidence is believing in yourself. Arrogance is often a mask put forth by an insecure person.

To me confidence is when you have enough trust in your self to do something.
But arrogance is when you have excessive pride and belief and you are over bearing with it. I think that an arrogant person believes that they can do anything better than you, and they are haughty about it.

confidence means self belief. one is arrogant when one takes pleasure from rubbing ones apparent success in anothers face. whereas a confident person would just be sure of himself but not so much so as to gloat

Confidence: Undying support and believe in oneself and one's talents to the point where those talents come to fruition. People who have confidence also have some modesty in their belief in that they don't need to rub it in others' faces. They just trust in what they are able to do.

Arrogance: Undying support and believe in oneself in a way that is cocky, puts others down, or requires one to constantly pump themself up.
