scrabble is definately MY favorite
I'm very good at it and i just enjoy making new words out of scrambled letters and being able to use my position on the board to get points, it's an all around awsomely fun game
As a family, pretty much any card game
my dad rocks at poker
and my mom is pretty good at non poker type games like rummy and stuff like that
i really like cards, especially texas hold 'em, so sometimes, if my dad wants to, he'll play when my friends and i are playing

Given that my family includes me, my wife and my 7 y/o daughter, the most popular family game is usually Flea Circus - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/7120 . Although, my daughter has recently become fond of Master Labyrinth - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/437 (not my wife's favorite).
My personal favorite all around board game is Carcassonne - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/822. Each game is different, a bunch of possible strategies, and several expansions, most of which do a great job of changing the game play in a different but positive way. Great for beginners as well as "veterans".

My most favorite board game in the world is SCRABBLE, because a little wordplay goes a very long way.

Cosmic Encounter. It's a fairly simple game which is enhanced by one or more "alien powers" handed out to each player. Each power lets you modify a particular rule in your favor. The variety of powers is huge and the way they interplay is fascinating, especially when you have 6 players.

SCRABBLE!
My family and I love Scrabble. When my father is here, we play it every now and then. We haven't played it in a while.
Why?
Because it excersices my brain with words and, in my opinion, it's fun. Also because my whole family enjoys it is one of the reason why I like it.

definitely monopoly because my family and i play a lot and one thing is wrong with it I CANT FIND THE MONOPOLY BOARD dang it i really need to find it or else no more family fun time and i like family fun time its really fun
