it was an appartment so i dont know if someone else lives there now or what

It won't get forwarded and could be stolen out of the mail. Call the credit card company and tell them you used an old address in error. You will need to change the address anyhow or they will have trouble sending you your bill if you use it. They may check your credit report and see it is an old address and not issue a card.

It is very important for you to call the card company now and have the card cancelled. There is a very high risk that the envelope containing the card will just be slotted into the letterbox of that old address. The tenant or occupant can sign behind the card and use it immediately. The store cashier will never know cos the signature will of course match with the card.

It may not. The envelope will likely say something to the effect of "do not forward" on it, so the post office won't forward. But, no worries, you can still call the credit card company and cancel or reroute the application. I suggest you do that as soon as possible. Good luck!
