It means take advantage of the free market while cursing it at the same time to gain the sympathy vote. It means endorsing hedonism to the point of using the free market dollars of others to pay for the health care necessary to deal with its inevitable diseases,

Many people have different viewpoints, and do not easily fit into cookie cutter molds of 'liberal and conservative'
The meanings have altered here in recent years as well... The 'conservatives' are the ones not balancing the budget, the ones taking away our rights and civil libertites, violating the constitution, and making drastic changes to the way our government is run...
Where the 'liberals' have been more conservative when it comes to preserving our constitutional rights.
Personally, I am all over the board..
I am not for the tax cuts, but am for financial responsiblity in handling of the taxes currently collected.. (not stuffing corporate pockets)
I am against gun control and other violations of our bill of rights.. (illegeal searches, wire tappings, and countless other ways the homeland security act and patriot act strip our rights).
I am pro life...but feel that the protection of life, does not end at birth... We should support our people durring their entire life and not turn our backs on them. (which includes the support of 'liberal' things like Universal health care, social security, public housing for those in need, and things of the nature.. )
I prefer not to be forced into cookie cutters.

To be conservative in this sense means to be in favor of small government, low taxes and limited government intrusion into business activities. To be morally liberal, is consistent in that the person does not believe in governmental or legal involvement in personal, sexual issues.

An economically conservative person is thrifty and closed-fisted. They are concerned about the budget. This person harbors "traditional'" values about saving money for an unseen future. Such as tax cuts versus raising taxes. You want more of your money going into your pocket.
Being morally liberal centers on a belief in individualism over believing in the status quo.morally liberal: A person that does not believe in a cause and effect. Bases everything in life on "I think", "I feel", "that's not fair" and "that's good enough." Does a person who is more concerned about freedom for the individual actually hate our military? Thinks more of our enemy than America. Hates our military. Yet wants people to believe they are concerned about the lives of the people in the military. But see nothing wrong with killing the unborn. Yet, believes it's unfair to be refer to as a Nazi because of it. This person prefers to believe that there is no God and that God will not judge him/her on the Last Day. This person prefers to call opinion fact and facts opinion. Especially if the facts contradicts them. See nothing wrong with lying and wants to put a complete stop to conservative talk radio because it's hard to make people believe in their lies because of it. But yet still wants to call themselves an American. This person is better known as a liberal Republican.
So to answer the question, posed, "yes" a person can be both economically conservative and morally liberal.

bdbbdb? You are so wrong. I resent you speaking for the middle class, of which I am a part. The tasx cuts were not for the rich because I and many of my friends are not rich and we have benefitted greatly from those tax cuts. It is a lib myth and a complete lie (manipulation of facts) that the tax cuts were for the rich.
As for the question:
It means the pol in the question is supported Biblically on their stance to be conservative fiscally and be a wise steward of money. It also means they are totally opposed to God's word on issues that God clearly does not agree with. ie. abortion and homosexuality. It is a dangerous mix because the Bible says, "a double-minded man is unstable in all of his ways." I would rather have a candidate that is a Christian and 100% conservative than to have one that flip-flops across party lines trying to pander to both parties.

In the USA, In government, being economically conservative means to limit government spending for social programs, and not to spend money unless there are known revenues available to pay for it. (Either from taxes or by cutting expenditures from another program).
Morally liberal generally means, in USA politics, to be pro choice, pro guy marriage, and to view a persons sexuality as his/her own business.

Well, just look up the definitions of the words.
Economics: the branch of social science that deals with the production and distribution and consumption of goods and services and their management
Morals: ethics, the codes, values, principles, and customs of a person or society
Conservative: people who generally like to uphold current conditions and oppose changes. Conservatives are often referred to as the right wing.
Liberal: people who generally like to reform current conditions. Liberals are often referred to as the left wing.
So, if you're economically conservative, you're safe and cautious with your finances and spending habits. If you're morally liberal, you want to break the mold of principals and values that are a norm.
