Both "give" and "gives" are present tense verbs. Determining which you will use is simply a matter of who is performing the action...

"give" is used with first and second singular or plural nouns or pronouns as well as third person plural (I give, you give, we give, you give, they give)

"gives" is used with third person singular ( he gives, she gives, it gives) You would also use this form after third person nouns and proper nouns.

Both are used in present tense.
It depends on the subject.
I, you, we, they = give
he, she, it = gives

Nothing to do with the nouns, either singular or plural.

It depends on what noun you are using with it. If it is a singular noun or pronoun, use "gives." If it is a plural, use "give."

For example:

She gives a good massage.

They give good service at that restaurant.

the people before me about the singular/plural are correct, but here's a way to remember!

singular noun: usually w/out 's'
singular verb: usually w/ 's'

plural noun: usually w/ 's'
plural verb: usually w/out 's'

its the opposite!

hope this helps,
Keith

It is: I give, you give, he/she GIVES; we give, you give (plural, as in more than one "you"), they give. It is the present tense of the verb give.
In the past tense, it is all GAVE.
In the future tense, it is all WILL GIVE, SHALL GIVE.
In the present perfect tense: I have given, you have given, he/she HAS given, we have given, you have given, they have given.
In the past perfect tense, it is all HAD GIVEN.
In the future perfect tense, it is all WILL/ SHALL HAVE GIVEN.
