I believe that God's grace defeats karma, even when we don't deserve it.
At the center of all religions is the idea of Karma. You know, what you put out comes back to you: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, or in physics—in physical laws—every action is met by an equal or an opposite one. It's clear to me that Karma is at the very heart of the universe. I'm absolutely sure of it. And yet, along comes this idea called Grace to upend all that "as you reap, so you will sow" stuff. Grace defies reason and logic. Love interrupts, if you like, the consequences of your actions, which in my case is very good news indeed, because I've done a lot of stupid stuff.

Karma and free will are two totally different things. They are some what related to an extant though. Free will is the ability to do what you want knowing and choicing no matter if the decison right or wrong. It is what God gave us. Karma on the other hand is what goes around comes around as you stated before. It is the BELIEF that if you do some this ron there will be a negative outcome in the end and if you do some this right you will have a postive out come. But i agree with you in what you say about wrong choices affect influence good people the wrong way. As an answer to your question yes i believe in both karma and free will. I think the choices we make here on earth will be jugded when we die. And i also believe that God also has a small punishment here on earth no matter what it may be.

No
I believe in free will we have the ability to think, weigh matters, make decisions, and know right from wrong. So, free will is to be based on intelligent choice. We were not made like mindless robots having no will of their own. Nor were we created to act out of instinct as were the animals.
On Karma-no-it doesn't always happen. But when things do seem to bounce back --we love the phrase " What goes around comes around". It is kind of like true justice happening. "Getting their just deserts". We can all smile at that and hope they get it double!! Good and bad.
Sometimes I think God does but only if it is for his grand purpose not ours. If your religious you can see he didn't step in for some of the prophets but he did some--when it met with his plan.
Your are correct bad choices do affect people in negative ways -(which goes back to we smile and think-"what goes around comes around. " You had it coming " ) You might feel sorry for some but not the Jerks who deserved it.

No. And No.
My belief may not be popular, but meh!
"Good" and "bad" are 100% the invention of MAN, not GOD. God could care less what we do, since he already knows what we are going to do and why we do it. Everything that will ever happen has been determined by what has already happened. Something about the equation would need to change for a different outcome. As such, it would seem arbitrary for God to punish us now or later since it was basically circumstances (and even genetics are environmental if you think about it). It was never our fault to begin with AND he already knew it would happen, so why would we get punished?
Thinking we have free will is important for society, but that does not make it true. I believe life is about learning and most of what happens on Earth is actually very unimportant. It just seems important to us while we are here. So the apparent consequences for the "good people" are not as bad as we think they are and the "good people" are only "good" because their circumstances made them that way. And believe it or not, I am actually a huge optimist.

The problem, it seems, is we think we know what "good" and "bad" mean. Events have occurred in my life that I labled "bad" at the time, but I look back in retrospect and see the same event as a blessing in disguise. Free will does not negate karma. "Karma" is just another word for "consequence". Unfortunately, most of us use free will unconsciously. We give little regard to the inevitable consequences (seen or unseen) of our actions. Since we have a limited perspective on how the Universe works, we have no real idea of of how all of our actions relate, what consequences they'll bring or the real purpose of what anything is for.
So we deny responsibility for everything, place it in God's hands and blame the "devil" (or Republicans or fill-in-the-blank) for anything we don't like, can't control or don't understand.

I believe in a watered downed version of the butterfly effect.
I believe that everything you do effects everything around you.
Each act travels out and away from you, and then back again.
Just like the waves in a pond when you drop in a rock.
The waves first travels away, then back.
Depending on whether it comes back at you good or bad, depends on what it was you did to cause the event, and how you view the situation when it returns.
Bad events, aren't necessarily bad, if you can turn them into a positive by paying attention to the signs around you on how to do so. And of course free will is what causes the events in the first place, so I believe in both.
nice to see you asking a real question RLP.

Why is this in the politics section? And you should probaly watch out for that karma thing because I believe that you recently called someone a "cheap tramp."
All you have to do is be a good person and we all know how to do that.
To follow up-
Hah, well I must have misread the answer or something, because for some reason I don't find that funny....but have a nice night.

We are beings of free choice, Karma does not exist. God has no judgment and any punishment is your own creation.
You can create your own Karma if you wish. But then a wish does not exist because a wish is only a wish, not something real. Confused yet?

No, I don't believe in judgement after death or karma. I think sometimes a person can make a mess of their life by doing unethical things. But basically life is unfair. Some people are horrible, but they are wealthy and powerful and they never have any ill effects from it. Some people are kind, but they live miserable lives and are never rewarded for it. Ask a poor child in India or Africa.
