I have a chevy impala 06 w/ keyless remote entry & starter. My remote will not work further than within hands reach of the car. I have replaced the battery and the remote itself, but still no range. Please help.

I know this sounds silly ,but try placing the key fob under your chin when you push the button. This worked really on my wife's '99 Venture , and works pretty good on my '00 Blazer and the '01 Blazer she has now.

This is a common problem on '06 and '07 Impalas. Your car should still be under warranty, so you should be able to go to the dealership and have them swap out the Remote Keyless Entry system. Have them replace everything from the receiver in the car, the remotes, and the antenna in the car. If you need more help, come on over to the North American Impala Owners Association message boards. There are a few guys there who have had the exact same problem and they can enlighten you on what they did to get it fixed.

other than replacing the lithium battery on your remote. You can for about 500 bucks go to a stereo place like car audio pros and have them install a remote car ignition starter,it comes with car alarm built in.It will also lock unlock your doors or trunck. It will work up to a mile away it uses cell phone technology its made by viper.as far as scanners dont have nothing on this remote i had mine for over three years with no problems.

They say that if you point the head of the remote at your head and look at the car, it works. As silly as that sounds, I've gotten that to work with my 06 Ford Escape, but I think it depends on the remote configuration. Otherwise, I would definitely get that checked with the dealer.

Hmm you don't want to!! There have been instances here in the UK of people using their car remotes from three or four car lengths away and this can be picked up by a clever little scanner and used to clone keys and steal the car later.

Use your remote close to the car.
