they say it is to replace old pipes i will be out of water for up to 5 days plus sheet rock work and painters the is no problem with my apt i would under stand if something had broke. they are giong to be working through the week end i think a week off rent is fair is there a law that says this or something like this

If the property will be uninhabitable during the work you do not have to pay rent during that time. You are not entitled to any further compensation beyond that such as for an hotel or other temporary digs unless your lease specifies that you are.

It depends on how your lease reads. Look and see if it covers maintenance they need to do, even if you don't have a problem in your unit it might be some code thing they have to comply with. I would talk to management and ask if there can be any "perks" for you while this is being done. Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Especially if they think it will cause you not to renew when your lease expires.

Routine and emergency maintenance are a problem but you will have to live threw it with out compensation.If it takes over 30 days you may have a claim but a slim chance

You cant get a rebate in rent, but your landlord needs to make sure you have a supply of water. If there is no water in your apartment, he needs to get you a motel or something.
