No. But a bad marriage is not meant to be a life sentence.

Frankly, I think it's made marriage too easy. Any fool can get married at the drop of a hat--well, any heterosexual fool, anyway--without considering the ramifications of his/her actions. Going back to the pre-no-fault divorce days would be attacking a problem from the wrong end.

Speaking of pre-no-fault divorce days, there were a lot of miserable people stuck in loveless and/or abusive marriages back then, with little hope of getting out. Let me give an example: my uncle married a woman who divorced him a year or two later. Now, my uncle was a drunk, but being married to a drunk wasn't grounds for divorce. So she filed for divorce on grounds of abuse, even though he didn't do anything she was claiming in her divorce petition. She had to lie to get a divorce--and she did.

If you answered yes to this question, how would you have explained your answer to those people?

I think the media and celebrities have made divorce an easy escape. Alot of people just dont fight for their marriages anymore, it's an easy way out of problems when it reality, it brings in a whole lot more.

Actually I think society has made marriage to difficult!!!
People these days are too self centered, people are not willing to sacrifice anything, so the easiest outlet is divorce.

In a way i think so. With the no fault divorces now, it has made it easier. People can cheat and not be held responsible for the break up of their marriage. People would think twice if they were held accountable for their actions.

Yes but society also NOW frowns on men who beat the crap out of their wives and children. Back when society frowned on divorce it was quite commonplace for a man to beat his wife and kids...after all he had to "keep them in line".

What gives you the idea that divorce is easy?

2007-07-15 16:57:21 · answer #8 · answered by iyamacog 7 · 1 0

Yes...but only in the sense that "if you are not happy" then divorce...and as long as "someone" makes you happy it doesn't matter who you have run over to be with that person...IE..affairs.

Instead of saying "work on YOURSELF and your marriage FIRST...give 100% THEN if it doesn't work ... get out of it"...

Yes!! It is so easy more and more people are choosing to live together than marry. They say it's much cheaper and easier to end the relationship. "Ain't that nothing"
