At the end of the movie "Music and Lyrics" there are a bunch of bubbles telling about everyone in the movie and the band PoP, and the book that was written about Drew Barrymore's character, and about Cora. Were those true? Was the movie a true story?
Just Wondering.

Thanks for the help,
Matt

Nope, the whole movie was a parody of the MTV generation-X era. The band Pop is a fictional one and the songs are originals written by Adam Schlesinger, the lead singer of the real 90s band "Fountains of Wayne" for the movie. He also wrote the song "That Thing You Do" for the movie of the same title, starring Tom Hanks.

This is why the major label are restructuring the contracts they sign with musicians. The labels are trying to get in on the touring revenues and other loot that comes from sources other than record sales. To an extent though I agree with you. The ease with which one can make music these days has led to an explosion of garbage. Everyone says, "oh the good bands aren't mainsream, you have to dig", but whenever I cruise around Myspace music or youtube all I hear is suck. Personally, I purchase CDs from stores. On the other hand, the record industry still sells more albums a year than they did 20 years ago. They had some really good years in the late 90s early 00s from which they have declined. Online piracy may be responsible for some of that decline but surely not all of it. I also think record sales should take into account iTunes sales and similar, I may be wrong but I don't think they currently do. ------------------------ But is it the end? Music has been around for centuries, record companies a few decades.
