Ok so im a redsox fan a legit one and ive been hearing on weei the red sox radio that The red sox organization will be heavily trying to get arod this off season. If this happens i dont know what i will do with myself after these years of giving him soo much crap. I would not cheer him on unless he kills the yankees. What do you redsox fans think.

I agree with you. I heard this one on Fox Sports Radio late last night: Suppose Larry Lucchino was just trying to get the bidding war going to make things a little insecure in the Bronx.
I like Mike Lowell who will be a free agent at the end of the year and I hope they sign him. Julio Lugo is untradeable with his current subpar batting average. They are already paying Renteria's salary. Would they trade Lugo and keep 80% of his salary as well? That would subtract from what they could afford to pay A-Rod.
The Dodgers, Angels and Cubs would love to have A-Rod's bat. Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio says that A-Rod wants to be loved and going to Chicago, even for less pay than he could get from the Yankees to help the Cubs win their first World Series in 100 years (1908-2008) might actually get someone to like him. If that's true, that he cares what people think, everyone in Fenway Park should boo him even louder when the Yankees are back in town.
BTW, Mikey Adams says A-Rod's not coming. I don't think any of them have any special insights into what John Henry and Theo Epstein are likely to do. It's got to be bothering them that the Red Sox have lost so many close games this year (Friday and today for example). But A-Rod's not going to be available this season anyway.

It doesnt work from an economic standpoint. I am also a red sox fan. They would have to dump Lowell first off who hasnt been a bad pickup considering what we gave up for him and Becks. The thing is we would need to get rid of Manny who would be in the last year of his contract. The contracts we have given so many of the people on this team is ridiculous.

But if this were to happen i would like to see them trade Lugo and then move ARod back to SS.

Honestly it won't happen but the media will be into it for a long time because it would be the ultimate betrayal. They were all overit when Damon defected. How much do you think they will be now...

I think it ruins the rivalry if the Red Sox were to get A-Rod. A-Rod has had too much beef with the Sox (fight with Varitek, bush league play with Arroyo) for them to get after him so heavily. I don't understand why teams think he is the ticket to a World Series championship. The Rangers and the Yankees have already made that mistake. I mean, really, is an amazing player really worth $30-$35 million per year if he hasn't won any WS rings? A-Rod is the best player in baseball right now, and one of the best ever, but it isn't worth it to cripple your payroll budget if it isn't going to essentially guarantee a championship.

He'd certainly be an upgrade over Lugo.

Boston almost had him before 2004 but the MLBPA refused to approve the reworking of his contract (ARod was willing). And he's hardly lost anything since... so, yeah, it'd be nice to see Rodriguez in Boston whites, and I don't care a bit about the munny involved, AND he's such a hired gun/vagabond that his changed unis would mean very little to any rivalry concerns. (Plus it takes him away from the Yankees.)

But... I dunno. He'd certainly be a great addition, but I don't think the Sox need him. I'm sure they can do better than Lugo for less as well.

There is a 1 in 5 chance. Only 5 teams can absorb his payrollwhich are the Angels,(my favorite) Yankees,(boo) Red Sox, Dodgers, and I think the Tigers. He might go but I don't think so. It's the biggest rivalry in sports.

You shouldn't do anything with yourself because A-Rods not gonna go to the Bosox. The Red Sox are NEVER going to give A-Rod $30-35 million a year. The only team going to be able to pay him that much is... YES you guessed it the
-----------------------> YANKEES<---------------------------
So don't worry, i'm not trying to rub it in your face or anything cause I'm a Red Sox fan myself.
