If a person makes a fool of me once - shame on them. If they make a fool of me twice - shame on me.
Cheating - once - may be forgiveable. Cheating twice indicates a total lack of respect, or a pattern. Say goodbye.
Gambling or other addiction, - won't get help, won't keep me. Trying to do better, worth a second chance.
Any kind of sexual or violent attack - GONE, no question.
Lying - depends on the content, and why. May get a second chance, some situations won't.
Hurt the kids - Gone.

This is not a good question for the reason that you have not given enough details about the type of mistakes you are referring to. It is difficult for people to make judgements on things that are too open ended.

Is it the same mistake? Making the same mistake over and over again is a problem. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing and expect a different result. If it is my kid, yes. Kids can outgrow brain damage. My spouse, probably not. Sorry is as sorry does. Hurt me once, shame on you. Hurt me again, shame on me.

Depends on the mistake....If he/she broke a dozen eggs and just shove them back in the fridge, maybe i would chalk that up to stupidity and would forgive that...

was it truly a serious mistake or a BAD DECISION...
I get so sick of people explaining BAD decisions as mistakes...
