In usual observing conditions expect 8-9. If you are several miles from any light pollution in the country you may expect 8.5 to 9.5 and maybe 10 but that would be pushing it.
I started with a Tasco 60mm (2.4") telescope with a maximum of 60X. The eyepiece was a variable power that you pulled out of a tube for each of the preset powers. I now use a Celestron, Celestar 8" Deluxe telescope.

Hi. On a clear night with no light pollution and no Moon in the sky you may get to Mag 10. Depends on your eyes.

11.6 magnitude under excellent conditions and fairly high magnification (to reduce sky glow).
