You're inaccurate a bit. Republican views are less government intervention in our economic lives and some intervention in our social lives, as to keep society from sliding into a sick, perverted, choatic world. Like allowing beastiality to become a norm. Gay marriage and adoption falls into that category.
Abortion is seen as taking a human life, and in America, the individual and their life is placed as the most important thing, that's why republicans are anti abortion.
Seriously, you can't tell me your rights are being violated by the patriot act. How many people have actually felt this law? How many times has the FBI kicked in your door and served you with a warrant? None I'll bet. I bet only a handful of people have, and I bet they are all nefarious people anyway. Besides, it has foiled plots to kill innocent Americans, how is that a bad thing. Unless you plan on bombing an airport, you don't have anything to worry about.
The only ones trying to stop public prayer in school would be the liberal democrats, not conservative republicans. Since liberals have a stick up their @sses when it comes to Christianity, and want it nearly abolished. Liberals are the ones that are threating our freedom of speech, with crap like political correctness and the fairness doctrine that would silence conservative talk radio, there biggest competition in the war of liberal vs. conservative ideals.

The modern Republican Party shares a name, and a name ONLY, with the "classical" Republicans whose goals were to MINIMIZE the needs for and roles of the Federal Government. Those traditionalists saw "government" as a facilitator of national defense and international trade. They saw the potentials for abuse and specifically crafted protections FAVORING THE PEOPLE into our national documentations.
What we have now is a CONSORTIUM OF EXPEDIENCY, a bunch of loosely allied "interests" under the banner of REPUBLICANISM. Yeah, I know, it sounds like the Democratic Party. The difference is that the Democrats NEVER PREACHED ANYTHING ELSE. Thy've never had aspirations of MINIMALIST govrnmental involvement. They have ALWAYS been overly involved in the personal lives of the citizenry, from defining race based on the "one drop" rule to creating obstacles, called "codes" to impede and restrict citizens.
The Republicans sold one bill of goods and are now delivering something entirely different. They can spend dime for dime, with ANY Democrat. The current administration has further moved the bar. It is the MOST WRECKLESS spenders of the PEOPLES' monies in our history. They've allowed their extremists to dictate policy and platform, going back to the REAGAN administration. In return for CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALIST support, the party allowed those same people to impose their narrowly defined brand of Christianity on areas that previously enjoyed the INTENDED autonomy from such Government supported indoctrination.

About the only topic you picked that had anything to do with this administration is the patriot act. Those other topics have been around for many years and yes.....even under the Democrats.

There are hypocrites on both sides of the political fence.
The Kennedy's fight for alternate sources of energy but fight against a "wind mill farm" any where near their property because they don't want their view spoiled.
All of the Democratic candidates flew to the last debate in private jets!

Observing what happens in government at all levels for many years have shown me that hypocrisy and mendacity seem to be a way of life for many politicians.

The Republican party has been taken over by neo-cons, who have stolen the term "conservative" to mean that they are way, way on the right and want to tell people how to live, when it's original meaning was to be conservative in interfering in people's lives.
