I have a ford f100 1981 i replaced the igntion switch,starter, lock cylinder and battery. I turn the kry it dtarts, but the starter is still engaged. Waht is the cause?

Starter solenoid its sticking.

the ford did not need shims that was a Chev thing , like was already noted replace the solenoid on the fender that your positive battery cable goes to and from there the cable goes to your starter, it's not expensive and it should cure the problem, good luck.

The solenoid on the fender is sticking. Replace it.

If there are supposed to be shims between starter and engine and they were not replaced the gear will wedge in and stick

It may be the solenoid or it may be the ring gear teeth need to be cleaned up and filed.
