waves derive their energy and motion from the wind.all waves have the same characteristics. The top is known as a crest, and crests are separated by troughs.Wave height is measured from trough to crest, and wavelength from crest to crest.
as waves approach the shore, the water becomes shallower and the waves get higher.finally, the waves front collepses or breaks.the turbulant water created by breakers is called surf.
actually, ocean just gave through its wave energy.

Have you seen the ocean, it has waves all the time.
Large lakes have waves as well - they are created by the wind and currents in deeper water welling up into the surface water.

That's a confusing question. Oceans do have waves, and they are generated by a combination of wind, tides, currents, temperature differential, and seismic activity.

while you're bearing on waves and breakers you spot from the sea coast, it is brought about while the decrease-maximum water collides with the backside. The decrease water slows and the top water breaks over it.

It wouldn't have waves if the earth was rotating on its axis & the moon didn't revolve around the earth.

the ocean itself can't because of gravity. but since the moon is there, well in certain places, there could be high and low tides.
