Don't buy Supertech ANYTHING for your BMW... (maybe windshield wash is okay).
If you want a good synthetic oil that isn't as expensive, try Amsoil. They normally have rebates going on at parts stores like Autozone.
Unless your car is already beyond 50,000miles, the dealer will cover the oil change & inspections for you. But since you want to do one every 7500miles, you will have to pay for every other oil change.
Engine oil is like the life blood of your car, don't compromise - especially on a 1-year old BMW like yours.
Even the mechanics at Walmart say they wouldn't recommend Supertech branded stuff when I talked to them a while back.
If you want to save money, just do the oil change yourself. But always use good oil and filter.
Bottom line is, you can probably use ANY motor oil in your car without causing serious harm within the short term. But if you are using anything that is BELOW the BMW LONGLIFE spec (or worse, NO SPEC at all), you are taking a risk for the long term. And whether that risk is worth the few dollars you save every oil change, that's up to you to decide.

RE:
Are Walmart Supertech 5w-30 Fully Synthetic oil good for Bmw's?
I normally stick with the factory brand or Mobil one. Bmw recommends oil changes every 15K with full synthetic oil. However, since I change the oil more often, say every 7,500 miles.....will this oil be a good choice too? The price on this one is a good deal when purchased as a gallon.
I'm...

When BMW says you should use Castrol, you should use Castrol Full Synthetic oil. WalMart? Oh come on buddy, you own a BMW not a Honda. Every 7,500 miles is a little low, don't you have maintenance on your car still. It still is a 2006 car. I can tell you, not all synthetic oil brand's are the same. Ratios of the ingredients they use are different, and that's what sets them apart from each other.

The BMW factory oil is Castrol Synthetic. Since BMW has obviously adopted a "Shorten engine life and sell more cars" policy with the "new" 15k miles oil change, I'd say they have set the minimum standard. IMHO stepping down from there is not an option, and will only help them sell you another car even sooner. 7500 mile oil changes is a return to sanity. Cheaper oil cancels that out. Castrol or Redline.

I would not use any 5-30 in a BMW. Typically European formula Mobil 1 or Castrol is best and that's 5-40 or 0-40

3000 miles is reccomended for mineral oils not syns. and i know bmw says 15k but like you i dont believe it and change the oil in my 3-series every 5000 miles. walmart oil is 13-15$ depending but just 2 days ago i payed 17.45 for Mobil 1 5w-30. given were 7quart people we need 2 jugs and have a spare quart laying around. so all in all your looking at a 4-10$ diffrence for piece of mind. also walmart (atleast here) dosent sell our nifty oil filters. in PA this weekend i spent 51$ for 2 jugs of mobil 1, a fram filter (best locally available), and new bulbs for my OBC (on board computer)

Hi
I have been using supra tech oil products in my Supra for over 15 years. The car is currently 23 years old, 203k miles and looks and drives like new. NEVER been inside the engine, still cruises at 100 + The oil is made by Pennzoil and LOTS of high perfomance engines both here and in Europe use it. The secret with oil, is the FREQUENCY in which you change it.

with the 5w-30 part you should go with recomendaqtion unless you live in warmer or colder climates i am not a fan of snetices myself but its a sport car and recomended bran wise some are just cleaner then others for just normal oil changes i would go with somthing cleaner and top end but i do go for the those deals on oil when flushing my system because they do keep it cheep but when flushing you change more then every 7000 miles.
