First ask yourself, why do you want to name your child that? Also, a friend of mine recommended saying the proposed name 100 times in a row, if you still like it then - go for it! I'd suggest doing some background on Tutankhamen, you might realize that his glorious yet short life isn't something you'd like to bring upon your child. Royal Egyptian names were ones' of power, each syllable means something important, do you know the meaning behind each? I firmly believe names help mold the personality, think carefully before naming your child such a well known, powerful, ancient, and meaningful name!

if you are Egyptian... then, well I don't think that people from Egypt name their kids Tutankhamen. Seriously, a name is a serious thing. When you are naming your child, you should take into consideration what your goals are. Do you want to honor a family member? (name him after a grandpa or uncle) Do want to incorporate your maiden name into the child's name? Do you want the name to be sensible or sassy? Think of the possible nicknames that you can form from a name, and think of the ugly nicknames kids will come up with to tease him with ( never thought that Victoria would turn into 'ick-toria' but it did) You can use your own heritage for ideas. But naming a child something that is too unusual is not the best idea. A name can do a lot for person, help them succeed or see them fail. Naming a child Charles Manson might give the child and people around him a complex. Names like Satan should be avoided. You probably shouldn't name a girl Barbie if you want her to be well educated and successful as a career person... Like I said, I there's a lot to a name. Good luck.

Tutankhamen was just 18 when he died. It is believed that they were not ready for his death, so he was buried in a comparatively small tomb, quickly transformed to be his last abode. But it was filled with riches becoming to a Pharaoh. It became famous because when the archaeologists opened it in the beginning of the last century, they found everything laying intact as it was left there thousands of years ago. One of the most astonishing objects was the Pharaoh's gold mask. It happened so, however, that within about ten years all major participants in the archaeological team died. This gave birth to the myth of the Pharaoh's curse - i.e. everybody who dared to break the Pharaoh's rest was cursed to die. The myth was born in the media and no doubt it captured the imagination of many generations to come. The mummy stories, movies, etc. originated from there. Investigators, however, have not found any proof of the myth being true.

Not much, sorry! I don't think it's a very lucky name; also, I don't have any respect for tribal monarchs. I prefer democracies : )
Anyway, you could only call him Pharaoh Tutankhamun when he turned nine. If he's already a dead king, what kind of future can he look forward to? Dig deeper ; )
The nickname is "King Tut" - if anyone he ever meets knows how to spell it, they'll know that he wasn't a king and wasn't a long-lived Pharaoh either.
He died at 18, and might have been married to his sister - any child can find that out and mock him. Older people will think "Steve Martin" or "Batman". I really like the idea of a unique name, but that's not it. I think that Tutankhamun/amon/amen would be fun for other people, not for him.

I like that you are trying to be original and unique, but when he gets older, he'll never hear the end of it when he starts school. Kids can be mean, and I don't think he'd want to go through that.

While it is a unique name and i am sure that no other kid in his school would have that name, i would say not to, But its really up to you. I mean if you did name him that you could always give him a nickname!

I think he's going to get picked on a lot in school, I wouldn't saddle him with a dorky name like that.

Bad idea, unless you want him to get beaten up in school.
