If you didn't play in high school that's gonna hurt you. To play division 1 football you not only have to have talent you have to have size, even at BYU. I'm gonna say no chance. but don't let me stop you.

I say go for it, get in the weight room, but most importantly learn the game. If you can be a smart player the rest is natural. Learn how to run route, catch the ball, get faster, do the little things that perfect a wide receiver also learn how to tackle block etc, pick up all you can because even if you make the team there is no guarntee you are gonna play wide receiver.
Began training now, so when you go to the coaches you can show them you have potential to make their roster.
When you get on the team the rest will fall in place
Also one important thing regardless of skill and ablility is heart and dedication. Since you didnt play high school football you are honestly going to have to find out if you really want to play this game college wise. so ask your self if this really is for me. If you want it bad enough thing will fall in place
Good Luck tho

A guy from my high school that hadn't played football since 5th grade went on to be a newspaper reporter at USC and intended to just go through the walk-on sessions for a story assignment. Instead, he found himself playing wide reciever on the practice squad (7th string) with the USC Trojans! He gets to suit up for all home games and bowl games. Anything is possible especially with a "non BCS" team in NCAA Division 1 football.

Always good to train and get into shape but without playing any high school football your chances are zero of making any division I college, even making a Junior college team.

Listen, if you put your mind to it, you can do anything you want to.
The kicker at Boston College never played or watched football and he became the first string kicked in a matter of months. The only possible barrier i could see is that you might be a little rusty as far as the mechanics of the game go.

Depends on your athletic ability, but I would think at a school like BYU you would have a chance. Somewhere like USC or Michigan, not so much. BYU plays good football, but athletic studs they are not.

Try the Utah Blaze. They are an arena football team and they are pretty good. They take walk ons. There are other arena football teams you might try.
You'll find out real quick if you have the athletic ability for it.

train like crazy. wind sprints, stadium runs, and get to the gym. if you're strong enough and fast enough, you're fine. it's not that hard to actually catch the ball if the QB knows what he's doin'. and besides, it shouldnt be to hard to make the BYU team, anyway.

I remember that SI columnist Rick Reilly wrote an article about a walk on USC Trojan who just did it for a newspaper assignment and ended up on the team. Anything can happen.
