A bad father I beleive is one who is not there. Either he is just not in the picture at all, or is just not there for his children. An example of that would be coming home and never taking the time to spend time with them. Never having time for hugs or cuddling with them. Never being a comfort, but instead becoming annoyed and frustrated, or leaving the room when the children are upset. Never attending any of the children's activities, not even just to support them, such as school plays, or sport events. Pretty much a father who beleives that as long as he is putting food on the table, he is a good father, and that is just not true.
A good father is one who does all of the above. One who loves his children and always has time for a hug, or some words of wisdom for them to grow on. One who understands what is important for them to feel loved. One who cares about who his children will grow up to be.

A bad father is a man who doesn't pay his child support or isn't even involved in his children's lives. He is completely out of the picture. However a good father is a man who is totally involved with his children, a father who loves his children unconditionally. He works to provide for his family and is also proud to be a father. A quotation that I found in a Chicken Soup book relates well: "He who raises a child is to be called its father, not the man who only gave it birth."
