Is a 94 Chevy K1500 Silverado with 180,000 miles worth spending 1500 to 2000 dollars if I'm planning on getting a new vehicle soon? Are trucks worth anything if they dont run? Scrap parts?

Buy the new one and sell it to a shade tree mechanic. Take the cost of repairs off the Blue Book price.

Well CW, I a couple friends who have double that mi. on their trucks and cars cause we were scattered out around the country and drove back home on weekends or we just drove the 200+ mi back and forth to work And the bodies are still in great shape(we worked for General Motors and with plant closings we did what we had to do) So , not to be bragging but we do make some of the best trucks and cars on the road today. I'm curious, what is it that will cost $1500-$2000 to fix yours? So, please reply to eldoradodave@yahoo.com

Well, here's the thing....

How much does the insurance cost you? And the plates? How many miles a year do you put on it?

How much will a new one cost plus plates and insurance?

I have an '85 with about 125,000 miles on it and it'll be a cold day in Hades before I say good-bye to it. The savings on the cost of the plates and insurance alone makes it a keeper.

It gets the same miles per gallon as a new one, too, so why throw it away?

Your old one is worth at least $500 to a junk yard.

Good Luck!

do you even know what's wrong with it? It's not worth putting 1500 into-it's probably not worth much more than that. A scrapyard might pay you a couple hundred for it but if you can fix it tor a couple hundred bucks it might be worth keeping around. Find out why it doesn't run then decide wether or not to fix it.

The truck is probably worth about $3,500 so I would say it would be worth it given the information available. If you want a better idea got to http://www.kbb.com and input your discription of the vehicle and extras to get a more accurate value.
