My best friend is pregnant, she is only about a month though. She has real bad headaches, stomache aches, normal stuff like that. She also goes through slight depression and is wondering if she should take her sisters pills for that. She usual takes advil and such. she wants to get another medication. What are some pills she should stay away from and not take so she won't put her baby at risk? As in pain meds, anti-depressants, etc.

Tylenol is the only safe pain medication for pregnant women. She should also not be taking her sister's antidepressants. If she is experiencing all of this, she needs to contact her doctor and receive help and advice from him or her.

Firstly - NEVER TAKE ANYONE ELSE'S PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION. Even if the condition seems similar, the situation might be different (like being pregnant) and so the medication miught not be right for her.
If she want anything stronger than paracetamol then she should see a doctor. It would be difficult here to list all the medications that could interfere with a pregnancy. Just tell her to be sure to let the doctor know she's pregnant and how far along she is, so they can prescribe what's best.
Taking some medication could result in abortion, but some will result in a live birth, with a disabled child, some will interfere with the mother's chance of concieving again. Not worth the risks, surely.

What do anti depressants have to do with abortion especially if she doesn't want to put her baby at harm? She cannot take anyone else's medications. Anti-depressants are prescribed according to the type of depression a person has and if they have any medical conditions and pregnancies. It's important to have her depression addressed and taken care of, but only a physician can properly take care of that.

Umm abortion med?? How exactly is an anti depressant an abortion med?
Perhaps Im confused here... The only med for pain she can take is tylenol for pain. Other than that she will have to call her doctor first.

Nothing is safe without her doctor knowing, she should wait until she goes to the dr. so she can talk to him about getting her own meds. Some anti-depressants are ok while pregnant and some pain meds are ok while pregnant, but like I said, only if her dr. knows.

She needs to discuss the safety of meds with her doctor. Now is definitely not the time to be taking other peoples meds.
For pain in the meantime, Tylenol is safest. Tell her not take anything with aspirin in it or ibuprofen.

She must see a doctor now. First pregnancies are dangerous and she needs to be watched close by medical professional. Gotta take care of baby.

TYLENOL is the safest medication for her. She should not be taking any asprin (unless by doctors orders) and definitely not motrin. She should discuss anti-depressants with a doctor.

You should never take someone else's prescription! She should go talk to a doctor if she thinks she needs something! And tell her to make sure the doc knows she's pregnant!
