how long were you in love before you married?

I fell in love with my husband after we were married. I I took the plunge, risked everything, moved to another country and gave it my all. I know that's not the fairy tale way, but that's what worked for me. Smartly, I chose a man with qualities that I never looked for when I was dating: stable, educated, good morals, strong family background, faithful, etc. I guess you could say I knew I wanted to marry him because I knew he would be good for me even though at the time I didn't love him nearly as deeply as I do now, four years later.

Well, I was in love with my wife before she and I were even dating. I knew I wanted to marry her pretty quick. I found out later she knew she'd marry me almost as fast. But we still dated for two years before the wedding. Planning a wedding is very time consuming and stressful.
So I'd say we were in love for less than six months before we had agreed that we'd get married. Another six months after that we made it official and announced our "engagement".

I knew when I realized that he and I were compatible (mentally and socially). We got married after 116 days of dating. We were not in love when we married. We fell in love later...during our 2nd year. Prior to that we cared deeply for and respected each other.

I knew I wanted to marry him because I wanted to spend my life with him & grow old with him.
We fell in love in 1984 & married in 1986. We've been together ever since.
