there seem to be two categories: best gadget phone and the best phone for work (that is cheap, easy to use and has long talking time)
i need something new, as my gadget phone is getting ridiculously uncool - i have a nokia N-gage.

For both long battery life and excellent gadgets look at Sony Ericsson.

I have the N95 and the battery is shocking. I also have a Nokia 6300 which is supposed to have long battery life but does not have all the gadgets. the battery is ok at best and it is boring.

You can either look at the K810 but this is basically just the K800 with a new casing. It has an brilliant battery though. Have to charge mine up every 5 days. Your best bet however is to wait another month or so for the new 5MP camera Sony. Ok you're stuck with the N gage for a little longer but you will have a phone with an unbelievable battery life, the best camera currently available, 4gigs worth of hard drive memory, and all the other gadgets you'll actually need and use.

It really depend on what you want in a phone. If you go onto nokia's website, it enables you to filter through all of their phones by selecting the features that you want.

I wouldn't touch an iPhone, I just don't like iProducts, for example the iPod, I was much happier with my Creative Jukebox, much cheaper, just as good, not everyone had one.

Anyway back to phones, some people have a preference for a particular brand aswell, I like nokia.

Another big issue is features vs battery life. I wasn't that bothered about the battery life as I don't often go somewhere where I cant charge my phone.

So I have my Nokia N80. I love the wifi feature. It comes in very handy. It looks cool, takes decent photo's/videos etc and it wasn't a ball-busting price (shopped around and got it for £100 less than my telecom shop)

wow, an n-gage? thats old school, aint seen one of those for a while.

I dont know what the "best phone ever" is, its quite a personal choice. i personally love Sony Ericsons, i think the w950i, despite its lack of camera, is an excellent phone, i cant wait to get the w960.

whilst i cant tell you which is the best phone, i can give you a few ideas to steer clear of -

* iPhone - poser phone, not up to the hype by most accounts
* Samsung - pretty much any samsung, they look nice, but thats where it ends
* Motorola - same story, some of them look nice, but functionally they are very bad, not user friendly
* Nokia N95 - this will be a excellent phone once the software issues are sorted out, give it 2/3 months and consider getting one.

have a look at this site, lots of very good information

It will have to be the Nokia N95. Nothing else in the market offers such a wide variety of useful features in one device like this one.

No, not even the Hype-phone, oh sorry ,I-phone.
